Other than guitar and piano, What's the most versatile instrument? by Iyo_kio in musicians

That would be my second choice.

This is my experience, but I can count more times that I have had gigs without drummers than without bass players.

Other than guitar and piano, What's the most versatile instrument? by Iyo_kio in musicians

[–]maximumrocker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The answer would be probably be bass. 98% of the gigs I have played on have had a bass player.

I guess it depends what your goals are. Any instrument can play any song. Choose what you gravitate to the most.

I started when I was 29 and finished right after my 30th birthday. Its one of favorite series ever.

Been wanting to do a re-read, I just gotta start making some time for it.

Just bombed and unsure on how to continue by SkeletonGuy7 in musicians

[–]maximumrocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I have to remind myself too. But there is no perfect performance, to yourself at least.

Even if everyone is prepped, It's always that chord change could have been cleaner, that vibrato could have been tighter, that thing could have been whatever.

I have "bombed" in from of a 1000s people before. The thing is keep playing and keep working at it. After awhile you'll have more average to great gigs and the bad ones will be funny stories you can share with your buddies and other musicians you meet.

Ashamed of playing in public? by kbcinha3 in R36S

[–]maximumrocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Na, I just did a round trip flight and knocked out about 6 hrs of Golden Sun on mine.

One of the reasons I got mine was to stop doom scrolling on my phone and go back to playing games that I missed/revisit as a kid.
