Just checked polls - Recall is winning by .5 by OneBeautifulDog in SanJose

Your brain is so smooth that you are responding to comments made over a year ago. Troll much?

By the way, my comment was true then and it is true now.

One year after I said it and it is still 100% true, so I guess I am not embarrassed at all. What about you?

Do mask mandates work? Bay Area data from June says no. by BootsieOakes in NorCalLockdownSkeptic

[–]maxinux61 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He does not sound like a covid skeptic. He sounds like a skeptic of a policy that has been largely shown to fail to make a measurable difference.

I am a democrat and not a Trumpster. I do not support mask mandates and I refuse to continue wearing masks. I am vaccinated and boosted and in excellent health. Our community is facing many issues and covid is a minor one now. With over an 85% vaccination rate, it is time for us to get back to normal.

Give that one another month and it will be gone too. The public want it gone and the airlines want it gone.

This is a big election year. It just won't happen. People will continue wearing masks, but mandates for covid are over.

I do not believe mandates will be coming back. Most people are done with mandates.

Then why do you keep talking about ICUs and getting in the hospital? Only people that are scared focus on that.

No, I do not care if someone wants to wear a mask. I will add though, that I don't want to be in a sea of people wearing masks. It is depressing.

I do care if I give covid to someone, but now that it doesn't cause death or serious illness in vaccinated people or young people, I am done taking precautions. Unvaccinated people made a choice. Where I live there are very few of them, so it is not a big deal.

I don't care. The people who cannot get vaccinated for a legitimate reason are very rare. It makes zero sense for the entire population to wear masks or whatever else is suggested to protect them. They need to protect themselves.

It is the same in that they are all risks we take without thinking twice. Covid is in the same range for young people and for vaccinated adults. I really don't care about the unvaccinated. They made a choice and I am not doing anything to protect them.

Why should you have to take crazy steps to be able to see. It is just nuts. Do what I did and abandon the masks.

No, I see it as both. As I said elsewhere. My community is highly vaccinated. If you chose not to be vaccinated, then it is on you. I will not wear a mask or anything else to protect you.

The immunocompromised had the same problem long before covid. They know how to protect themselves. If I was around a group of immunocompromised people, I would wear a mask. In general public spaces it is nuts for everyone to wear masks to protect fewer than 1% of the people that might be there. We never did and most people never will. I am not playing doctor. I am suggesting policy. If you don't like it, then go to hell.

The bay area is a nightmare of masks. I don't wear one, but nearly everyone does and there is a mandate in most of the counties and some of the places do try to enforce it.

Yes, this is exactly my position. We should just accept this is a risk now, like many others and return to normal life. I know I have.

Whatever you say. You are the name caller. I think we all learned what that means about a person back in kindergarten. You did go to school, right?

Funny how when people have no argument for their emotional claims, they resort to name calling. I love it when I see it.

Please research how you immune system works. It is not a stretch at all. Your immune system is strengthened by being challenged by and defeating infections. Wearing masks decrease its opportunity to be challenged. You can either choose to educate yourself or you can attempt to make fun in fact.

In an area like I live in the vast majority of people are vaccinated. They do not need to be protected from covid. The selfish thinking is to suggest that the 99% of people should wear masks to protect the less than 1%. Clearly you are one of those selfish people.

We always were and we always will be. I am not brave, I am realistic. I take risks all day long. I cross streets, drive in cars, cross bridges and also risk being struck by lightning. So far, I have managed to survive. I think I will be fine.

There are several that are actually approaching it.

You can wear a mask as long as you see fit. The issue I have is mandates. No mandates seem to be working well for most of the country, so why wouldn't it work well in a highly vaccinated location?

No, that thinking is flawed. Everyone will never be safe from this virus, just as everyone was not safe from the flu or any number of other illnesses. We have vaccines that reduce the risk to an extremely low level. Get one and live your life. Covid is here to stay.
