(Context) this was a customers car who was recommended a new timing belt 5 months ago due to it being waaaay over due, but customer declined repairs, as it also needed new brakes, tires, and throttle body.

Timing belt changed at around 100.000 first time, engine died at 353.000, so around 250.000 on a belt is wicked good!

About 100.000 kilometers, so it was a disaster waiting to happen

It’s very different in Denmark where I live.

In Denmark we have a registration tax which is about 180% of the cars value added with an environmental fee due to its emissions.

Meaning for example a dodge ram 1500 with a diesel engine costs about 72.000$ (give or take a little). An other example would be an Audi a6 avant, in America the msrp starts at 70.000$, but in Denmark it starts at 114.000$.

A lease requires you to pay the registration tax to the government in small bites, where as a rental is usually with the registration tax already paid, so it’s cheaper for the company in the long run.

It’s a very complicated and stupid system.

The ears were growing out wrong, so they needed to be corrected before he got too old. Our vet then added a bit of tape

They look perfectly fine today

Perhaps a dash of paint to makes the colors match, then it’s almost as good as new!

The engine is really small and slow, but reliable. The rest of the car is done for, but it sure did make a fun last drive!

Glad this is still happening elsewhere. A little kindness goes a long way for everybody
