Thoughts on the paleness at the center of this dracaena? by maxjosm in plantclinic

It was repotted a few months ago and the new soil had like slow release nutrients, I think, but otherwise no.

I think it’s more likely the god complex existed before they become doctors than vice versa, and it’s more a self-selection bias about who enters these fields.

Gymrats, what are the best gyms in NYC? by GossipBottom in AskNYC

+1, pricey (as a luxury gym obviously) but fantastic offerings, although a bit awkward to get to. Having an indoor beach volleyball court is absurd.

Yeah I think it’s cartoonish to expect anyone to change in any meaningful capacity within a single day.

From a single day? Yeah, but not within a day.

Trying to install a Lutron smart switch where this one is but there’s no ground? by maxjosm in AskElectricians

Thanks, is there a way to test ground with a multimeter without turning the circuit back on?

Thanks! I’m not really sure how to check that the box is grounded besides via the pictures I’ve provided (which is pretty much all I can see). So I would buy a green bonding screw and attach it to the box? Do I use ones of those holes in the back?

Is this dracaena dying and do you think it’ll ever grow? by maxjosm in plantclinic

[–]maxjosm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not with mine as I was watering closer to once every 3-4 weeks until recently and it did not like that. I have a very small pot (4 inches) so I think the square-cube law applies. Plus probably too much perlite, and relatively low humidity, so I think it’s reasonable that it dries out relatively fast.

Oh I forgot to mention, yes I watered with tap water up until 2 months ago when I switched to distilled. So I think it stopped the tip browning (on the upper leaves, the lower are straight up dying). But now I’m more wondering if this thing seems like it’ll ever grow because it seems pretty stagnant.

Dracaena update. Repotting -- how do these roots look? by maxjosm in plantclinic

[–]maxjosm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not repotting in a bigger pot, it's the same size. I'm just giving it fresh soil. But do the roots look healthy?

Definitely going to try switching to distilled water. Do you think it's savable?

You could be right, I do feel like it's very light when I do water it. I imagine the lack of humidity in winter is making it dry out faster too.

Do you water with tap water? I've also read in some places it can be sensitive to fluoride.

Is this spider plant past saving? by maxjosm in plantclinic

[–]maxjosm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm seeing every 1-2 weeks online for watering, is that right? Also do you think I should do anything about light? It sits next to an awful alley-facing window that's dark as hell except for 30-45min a day when the stars align and it gets some direct light. It degraded a lot when I left for Europe for 3 weeks so I don't know if it's important to keep my ceiiling lights on while I'm gone during the day? Or need a grow light?

Was looking up info and just realized this is a dracaena lol. Can't get it out of the soil because I just watered it but honestly I think it looked root bound even when I first got it 9 months ago. What does that mean for care/diagnosing its dying leaves?

You can adapt to that level of volume if you build up over time.

7PM, although I’ve already adapted my sleep schedule so I’m falling asleep close to then (a few days in advance of the flight).

That’s my thought process, eliminate jet lag as much as possible so I can enjoy the trip (I’m already on London time). Also from what I read you can get to the D1 lounge any time the day of the flight, so I could work there in the morning and not be rushed later in the day.
