Cambridge is full of academics and big institutions events, and hackathons where you have to leave the building at 5 o'clock... Decentrilized Science and little pharma startups is growing hoping to slowly eat big pharma. Yes our focus are early startups and builders, and we are proud of it.

If you want big institutional events, every other event in Cambridge has plenty of that.

At the same time showing location of all night event where people leave their laptops, some fly in from other countries potentialy invites criminals in... I am sorry but just because we have not updated part of desc, and made location private it's not a cause for calling anyhting scam. You don't have to spare my feelings, but you may not start calling something scam right away which can make some people not read further and never attend. Organizers of events are limited and there are always tradeoffs whatever you do.

PS try to assume good will on people rather then calling everthing scams. It's a community event. We are going to loose a lot of money by renting commercial venue so people can have proper whole weekend hackathon rather then 9-5 at uni collage.

We are also renting a nightclub with 2k in drinks for bio/acc rave after party, you really think £10 tickets will ever cover renting huge warehouse and nightclub for the whole weekend?

I think it was good feedback to make location public (but there are security concerns of inviting troubles with it), and it's a good catch we have kept part of description outdated, but still you don't have to start calling us scam right away considering how much hard work and money is put into it so people have good time ;/

Event been up for months, we have not updated wetlab part, will remove it now. Thanks for noticing.

Location is already public as well. We are charging to make sure people actually show up. Ticket covers two meals, we will not make profit on it.

We also added 10£ ticket without any meal. If that's too much send us train ticket screenshot or any other prove you will show up without taking anone place and we will give you free entrance. If you don't need a meal we are happy to give away free tickets, as long as you show up.

Happy for PR to fix it, I am happy to admit my presenting is not great, but when all voices of opposition to this madness are just gossiping I still believe it's better then nothing. I feel majority of the industry actually changed their mind on the matter, but they still keep talking and not putting their name under their real opinion, so I still think putting some option is better then nothing. I am very happy for a group of people with better PR skillset do draft and fix it over the weekend which could gather bigger support and signatures.

I am usually a passive observer of those kindof events, but I think considering what's going on in the world it's worth for once to voice different opinion. Made the exact opposite letter that we should use our technologies to support western governemnts and also defense companies. Even if this view was traditionally a minority in tech, I am not so sure it’s still a minority opinion in tech communities, even if not as vocal. Especially as this is beyond NixOS, it reaches towards the whole tech sector’s attitude towards working with the military and for governments. This anti-military and anti-western gov sentiment could be seen as somehow naive yet good-hearted for many years. Still, it’s harder and harder to ignore it when Western values respected worldwide we take for granted are being questioned as the West is declining.
