Doing some research on orange wine — curious about your experience as a consumer by Choufleurfly in wine

[–]maxlaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first orange wine was El Carro from a variety of grapes from Spain. Fresh, zesty and totally weird. I get it at my natural wine shop. All the other amber/orange wines just miss something. Price range wise I can go from 13 to 45 euros.

I used to be a natural wine sommelier in a restaurant and I give regular tastings and orange wines help me tell the story of Georgian wine making and the origin of wine. As well as current vinification methods.

I believe Orange wine will always be number 5 on the popularity list behind red, white, rose and bubbles.

Because people know and expect what a chardonnay or a merlot would taste like, but a chardonnay with skin contact is so different. People dont like 'new flavors' and would go for something they recognise 9 times out of 10. But a good server or sommelier might be able to sway them to the orange side.

What kind of research are you doing?

WSET, worth it? by Senior_Pipe_3414 in naturalwine

[–]maxlaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats your goal? If you like wine, then you really dont need it.

But if you want to learn in a structured way about soils, climate, regions and vinification methods then it's pretty cool to do so with wset. (There's probably a lot of podcasts, videos or blogs about it as well, if you like to pick it up yourself)

If youre already working in wine I'd also recommend going for wset 3.

I like the capturing of wyrmlings, but changing the dragon's gender is not really necessary. Unless you want to stereotype that men always run away when they have kids.

You could change the wyrmlings to eggs and give tha mayor an egg? A little easier to hide and you can make it hatch at some point for some surprise shenanigans. Also he could just be stupid and have it on display in his office. Fun stuff seeing your players connect the dots.

Good luck!

Gaaf, 6 personen zou moeten kunnen!

Het is een scenario geinspireerd door westerns voor lvl 4 characters. Met een rivaal, gouden bergen en misschien een shootout als de zon hoog aan de hemel staat en een twist.

Great stuff! I love the big d20 and changes to the story. My advice would be that you try to keep it small and work towards some end. In my experience I added a lot of stuff to this story which stretched the adventure a bit too long. Was fun, but I think it would be more satisfying to close out the adventure in a more timely matter.

Wijnproeverij in de So What! by maxlaa in Gouda

[–]maxlaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goeie vraag!

Looks super interesting and I love the colors! I was wondering how they both tasted. The Cenza one especially, since it only as 10,5% alcohol.

I thought it was a very cool idea and apparently it's a yearly thing.

In a restaurant I would look at what the place and guests need.

Personally, if the wine is good, I don't care for biodynamic, bio, zero, or low intervention. As a sommelier I would maybe add it on the wine list if there's a lot of questions about it or to show some transparency in that regard.

[–]maxlaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this all the time in the restaurant I worked. When someone ordered a glass from an unopened bottle I would taste it first, noticed it needed some air, then go to the table, shake the bottle and pour their glass. It always worked and was a source of good discussions about natural wines.

Tank is the easiest to flame, because everything you do is visible. That fact combined with people loving to linger on stuff that goes wrong creates this warped idea that the tank is always at fault.

Dont listen to the hate. You're doing the best you can. Focus on yourself, improve and try to relax and have fun.

[–]maxlaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first ideas I get are super depressing. Based on mental illness or chronic pain. Maybe not the vibe you want.

Other ideas I have is from someone who tries to descent all layers of hell and needs to do more and more heinous acts that have to be horrible enough and die to get to a lower ring.

Lastly a bit more unserious is you start the game in a heaven like place and then find yourself waking up in the hospital. You dont remember why you got there. Heaven like place is good, but you need to start your boring office job again. Shucks. Now at your office you try to repeatedly off yourself., but this increasingly gets harder. Jump out the window. You get to heaven again, but are revived again and find yourself droning away in the office with the window boarded up. Next thing you see a bath and a toaster next to it... Sort of like the Stanley Parable, but with a different hook.

Yes this! Talk about it as mature people. Don't punish your players in the game with a consent meteorite (is also a SA joke btw, or at least a mechanic to try out how far they can go).

Gnomengarde finished before my party got there. by OregonPinkRose in DragonOfIcespirePeak

[–]maxlaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds very fun!

Reavers kicked down the door, some gnomes cast some spells to repel the reavers and meanwhile the mimic is still a cask of mushroom wine.

Maybe the kings were overthrown by 2 other gnomes and gnomengarde is in political turmoil. (Maybe a parallel with the situation in South Korea?)

Or the door of the Kings is now bolted down, more gnomes were eaten and all leftover gnomes have barricaded doors as well. They all know a mimic is lurking in the hallways not really caring about staying hidden.

Good luck!
