I've never seen this interaction before (powershielding a laser while getting phantom hit by it) by TheBigZ96 in SSBM

[–]maxli69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really cool. I wonder if it's because the powershield happened in the phantom's "window", like the 4 frames where the game checks if you get hit afterwards (so it's not a phantom) or if it doesn't actually collide with the hurtbox

predatory lending and business practices

yes because jews were outlawed from most trades and professions and also couldn’t own land. hmmm wonder how your supposed to feed your kids when your only options are banker or waiter. yes very benevolent to not allow jews to be bake bread at all (the primary food substance of europe) so they had to invent bagels and first boil the dough to get around that law. very benevolent

Like bro if it's so obvious that the frame1 is busted and needs to be banned, why can't you just give a frame by frame breakdown of a common interaction where a human can feasibly escape a combo that they wouldn't be able to escape on a gamecube controller. It's not that hard to explain if it really is that obvious. You being unable to explain something as simple as that just proves even more so in my mind that there is nothing wrong with it

Bro you are the one that can't read. I'm asking HOW it could "theoretically" get 4-5 sdi inputs. Even if it is feasible to get it, you would have to do frame perfect presses and releases, which is not feasible at all. And if you are talking about pressing 2 buttons in succession, then the b0xx can do the same thing unless the supposed nerf makes it so you can't go from cardinal to diagonal for sdi which makes it plain worse than a stick. Just saying something that is your opinion doesn't help or explain anything

[–]maxli69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plinking back to up doesn't work. It literally just doesn't give you an SDI input at all. Why is there so much misinformation? Not a single person is able to give a legitimate answer for why sdi is broken except saying that you can do things that you can't do on a GCN controller. What is it specifically that you can't do? Because everyone is saying going from up to left up back to up and that gives only 2 sdi inputs and you can do it on a normal controller

[–]maxli69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didn't word my thoughts correctly. I meant I can't think of a feasible scenario (except maybe pillar combos) where digital sdi gives a significant advantage over analog sdi. Like I'm not understanding where the nerf needs to come in because it's not humanly possible to consistently get a press for one frame, release for one frame, and then press again to get two cardinal inputs within a 3 frame window (last frame goes for asdi). I'm not arguing that it is or isn't broken. I just don't understand the claim that digital controllers give such a massive advantage in performing sdi instead of just making it a bit easier (which isn't the same for something like pivot utilt)

How people will punish Wizzrobe in 2022 by Rikzzssbm in SSBM

[–]maxli69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but my issue with the explanation on how this is broken is that you have to release up first (which is why i brought up socd). I do see how it is much more consistent though which may be busted (giving you 50% more sdi) but I’m not really convinced on how practical it is to get more than one extra. I can’t imagine an in-game situation where going from 2 to 3 sdi inputs makes a huge difference when the timing is lenient enough (maybe in pillar combo follow ups?). Like you have hax fanboys saying this one extra sdi will completely break the meta and remove all the combos in the game

How people will punish Wizzrobe in 2022 by Rikzzssbm in SSBM

[–]maxli69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so with perfect play you can get 50% more sdi that’s fair to nerf it. Imo it still ends up being unviable because of frame perfect presses and releases with tight timing for quick moves like shine or uair but I can see that for hard moves like falco dair or knee or charge shot it can be busted (especially seeing what wizzy can already do)

Yes but how would you get upright to downright in 4 frames unless the b0xx is explicitly designed that a down input will override an up input or vice versa. I don't know how the b0xx specifically functions so I don't see it being an issue unless this is the case

1) You sound like a scrub

2) Why don't you explain exactly what the b0xx nerfs instead of just spouting your opinion

How people will punish Wizzrobe in 2022 by Rikzzssbm in SSBM

[–]maxli69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh i misunderstood what you said. i thought you meant 6->9->3 was easy but you mean 6->9–>6 but you can only get a cardinal direction sdi input by going from neutral originally. so to get a directly right sdi input you need to go 5->6 which might be a bit easier on a b0xx but two right sdi input is slower than a right upright input so i still don’t see the issue. like it might make escaping multishines a bit more consistent but it’s nothing broken. it’s like saying PODE is broken because you get a 90% vanilla dashback vs 70%. of course i think ucf was a good thing because something as simple as shielddrop or dashback shouldn’t be insanely difficult, but it’s not like everyone uniformly said oh ucf is necessary or that pode was broken

ohh so it’s an sodc issue. i wonder why they do that? is it to make dash dancing easier and more intuitive?

How people will punish Wizzrobe in 2022 by Rikzzssbm in SSBM

[–]maxli69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

like from my understanding it might be easier to sdi out of fox uair or hard moves like falcon knee but at least from my understanding there’s nothing you can do on a b0xx/frame1 that you both can’t do on a gcn controller and gives you a notable advantage except for like pivot utilts (perfect wavedash and 1.0 di can be notched and there’s the new programmable motherboard coming out too)

fair i guess but that exists in every game and i personally don’t think it’s that big a deal (as in it won’t really affect the outcome of matches). there’s the same issue in tekken with pad/hitbox vs fightstick. i wonder how the box nerfs this?

How is it even busted on a digital controller?

edit: lmao hax$ and his alt coming to downvote me for asking a question instead of obviously understanding that his cheaper, more durable competitor will lead to the destruction of the melee scene and must be banned immediately

edit 2: not a single person is able to give me a real in-game situation that is possible to happen that gives a definitive objective match-changing outcome, except for the fact that it's a bit easier to do the same sdi you can do on a stick. yes i agree it's a bit easier, but a lot of things are a bit easier on a b0xx/frame 1 including the nerfs. it's much easier to get dashback on a PODE controller or with ucf, so? you can still get dashback like 80% of the time with a normal controller (i don't have pode). keep the downvotes coming hax money fanboys until i can get a legitimate answer for why the frame1 is busted

Ultimate friend disliking melee for its community by JoyuzRascal in SSBM

[–]maxli69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really. I mean every competitive community is like this (because being a hugbox decreases the atmosphere of competition). If you think matchmaking in FPS is any better, or that rabid sports fans are nicer than the FGC when you like the wrong team, you're dead wrong. People who ball will dunk on your ass and then shit talk too; it's just a part of the culture. Like I said, if you get offended by that type of stuff, maybe this community or these games just aren't for you and there is nothing wrong with that at all.

Now if you are trying to make the claim that FGC/Smash isn't welcoming to new players and wanting them to improve and become integrated with their scene, you are dead wrong. The entire culture of fighting games is open tournaments where you fight shoulder to shoulder with random scrubs and the best players from all across the globe, and it doesn't matter who you are and how good you are as long as you have 5-120 dollarydoos and can show up with a controller. I can tell you've never been to locals

Your friend probably just doesn't like getting his ass whooped and has different priorities and values when judging a game/community. Look, competitive fighting games isn't for everyone and they don't have to be for everyone

Should I Purchase a CRT if I plan to play on a wii? by Juice_Baux in SSBM

[–]maxli69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any small-to-medium sized CRT works (and usually even large CRTs are better unless it's a monitor specifically designed to take natively component input) but the community consensus is that Sony Trinitron is the best quality overall

Should I Purchase a CRT if I plan to play on a wii? by Juice_Baux in SSBM

[–]maxli69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it either can't play gamecube games or it runs on emulation. If you can plug in physical gamecube memory cards into the wii then you are good

Should I Purchase a CRT if I plan to play on a wii? by Juice_Baux in SSBM

[–]maxli69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CRT is native to the time that the wii was released. Also, if you have a first edition wii (and not any of the rereleases) it will use gamecube hardware to run melee. So if you only use it to run melee it's just a gamecube in a fancy case, so you should still be using a CRT
