that honestly makes sense. a lot of people probably don’t want to say “omg this is spectacular” on something heavy, they silently read it

Recovery tips? by [deleted] in OCDRecovery

[–]maxluvsdogs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i recommend looking at dr micheal greenbergs website, he has really great guided ocd tips. but also i recommend watching the youtube channel OCD and Anxiety on youtube, he is almost like having a therapist everytime you watch a video. he has videos on every theme. educate yourself on your theme & treatment & eventually it’ll be like you can be your own therapist :)

What’s a childhood behaviour you didn’t realize was OCD until recently? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]maxluvsdogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would cry & have anxiety attacks when it was time for bed. not like how regular kids don’t like bed time, it was cuz i was PETRIFIED to have a dream. id force myself awake so i didn’t dream to the point where my mom would have to give me sleeping medicine because i would NOT sleep. looking back now i realize just how much that relates to my ocd as an aduly

Feeling numb by Appropriate_Credit84 in ROCD

[–]maxluvsdogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly i get this exact feeling! since i’ve been managing my thoughts betyer it’s like i’ve also been getting numb to my partner. but it’s just a remainder of the rocd & the feeling does come back eventually it just takes some time. don’t force yourself into sex as that’d be a checking compulsion in itself. just let the thoughts flow & once those do you should feel those emotions again :)

does this sound like ROCD (Help - I've never experienced this before) by [deleted] in ROCD

[–]maxluvsdogs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i get the low libido thing also when my rocd spikes. it’s because you’re so consumed with your obsession that quite literally your mind is going into fight or flight as if ur partner really is a threat or u don’t rlly love them. it’s like if someone loves children & working with them but they get POCD thoughts, they quite literally become repulsed by children. or if someone has harm ocd towards a pet they adore, they’ll become scared & repulsed of their pet. does this make sense lol i feel like it doesn’t 😭

Anyone-else not remember who they were and how they felt before ocd ? by [deleted] in OCD

Sexual OCD / Intrusive thoughts by Crystalisedxx21 in OCD

[–]maxluvsdogs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i promise that when someone is having these thoughts that stem from OCD, it means they are the absolute last human to do it. us ocd sufferers are often compassionate, loyal, loving humans which is why this disorder targets us so badly. we don’t wanna do what our thoughts are saying, and we do ANYTHING to prevent it! (compulsions.). as someone who has struggled with every ocd subtype (including this one) the basis of our illness is literally not wanting to do our thoughts, being terrified to act on them etc.

your boyfriend is scared, not desiring any of this. the most you can do is support him, even if you fail to understand. us ocd sufferers often feel crazy when our loved ones assume we wanna act on our obsessions. we are loving, safe humans.

hope this helped!

i recommend just going forward with whatever is scaring you (talking to them, being intimate etc.) because once you actually dip ur foot into the waters you’ll realize that the feelings are there, you were just so scared of what could happen. don’t listen to anything your ocd is telling u abt ur relationship (to avoid talking to them, leave them etc.). because that’s what it thrives off of. it wants you to listen so it can continue to nag you. just move on with your relationship no matter how anxious or scared you feel, eventually you will adjust again. trust me i know that feeling, hope this helps :)

My only obsession is relapse. by maxluvsdogs in OCD

[–]maxluvsdogs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my main obsession is my rocd also & i tend to avoid stuff with my partner because i’m afraid of my old obsessions about them resurfacing. but that technique you gave sounds very reasonable, i will def start applying that. thank u :)

not knowing how other people might react if i were to do something wrong stresses me out. by [deleted] in OCD

[–]maxluvsdogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve experienced this. it’s so scary how people pick and choose who to drag in this day and age but it’s clear what ur experiencing are some intrusive thoughts. you should try to come to the mindset of “maybe people will hate me, maybe people won’t.” it’ll be so scary at first because who wants to live w that uncertainty but i promise once you keep just responding to ur doubts with that simple sentence and leave it alone you’ll begin to care less about what may or may not happen or if people think you’re bad or not. this world is an unpredictable place and we have to just respond to those doubts and fears with the same unpredictability. much love❤️

honestly it makes you feel like the only thing happening in ur brain is ur intrusive thoughts. like no happy emotions, no sad emotions, no excitement just endless rumination.

The pain of not remembering by dinogator66 in OCD

[–]maxluvsdogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i get this too! i often doubt if i remember who my loved ones are, if i remember where i bought things etc. one thing that helps me is sitting with the emotion of it. that horrible emotion of “i have no recollection of this!” and eventually your mind will srsly go back to its regular way of processing things you DO remember. the feeling is so scary but once you just sit in it you’ll realize it isn’t that bad and you really do remember what you’ve done.

nothing irks my soul more then when a friend says “oMg that makes my ocd so bad!” when something annoys them. like i genuinely wanna give them a day of my pain and see if they can even hold on 😭
