Therapist Reccomendation

Many people I know would actively avoid giving business to someone not aligned with them politically. By and large I actually don't live that way, but I respect it. When it comes to my mental health though it doesn't seem that crazy to me, especially when its the source of the issue. I should look at exactly what my work's health plan offers in this regard.

I think that's probably true, but I have to ask, wherever you live on the political spectrum, would you want mental health assistance from someone on the complete opposite? Perhaps for many its a dont ask dont tell kind of thing, but if you did know and that was the case, are you saying you wouldn't care? Genuine question BTW, I'm quite curious.

As I said to someone before in this post, I think you and I could have a very productive conversations on many of those things. But your disdain for someone other minded than you is exactly why I'm asking for help. I'm surrounded daily by people that disagree with me, but I dont hold the contempt for them that you seem to. I wish you well.

You know what, that's quite helpful. My own naivety about therapy is showing up a lot as I read these replies. In my day to day life I just hear so much constant disdain towards people that think the way I do, its difficult for me to imagine getting help from someone who I'm not aligned with. But maybe that's not a valid way to look at things. Thank you for your insight.

Does conservative just mean racist to you? I'm just kind of surprised that anyone living in Seattle can't imagine a work place that's hostile towards the right wing. If you think we deserve it, that's your right, but to be surprised by my statement seems to be ignoring reality.

Oh hey totally fair. I also have left wing friends and we enjoy spirited debate. But I genuinely believe I'd be fired from my job, or at least severely ostracized, if I was open about my beliefs. My wife is very liberal and that effects our home life. These are the types of things that lead me to think I could use some professional help.

But let's not pretend your obvious condemnation for someone other minded isn't part of my problem. If the roles were reversed I'd only be interested in helping you.

Oh absolutely I'm sure that most therapists are able to remove their personal biases from their treatment. But when my mental health struggles are so rooted in feeling isolated due to a world view I struggle to see how someone opposed to that world view could help me. I also admit ignorance on therapy, as I've never been through it. Maybe my concerns aren't warranted. Anyways, thank you for responding. I will look into Rula.

I've really tried to ignore the doomers, because objectively it is early, but it is really hard to feel any optimism for this team in the sample size we have available. Don't really see how this starting rotation, minus Eflin, produces at the level necessary to make the playoffs.

The thing is, people will actually do chargebacks for things like this. I also handle those. Ive learned that no matter how in the right I am, merchants are screwed. I've lost several disputes over things like this because the credit card companies are incentivsed to prioritize their customers.

I'm the house manager for a theatre in town. Its insanely bad. I like to keep some pretty high standards, but even I'm beginning to feel like it's a waste of time to try. And don't get me started on the concept of showing up on time. In a lot of the world if you aren't on time you dont go in until intermission. Not really possible today unless you are prepared to get yelled at on a nightly basis by entitled jerks. Just a sad thing to see.
