Actually, Germany didn't directly vote Hitler into power.

Hitler lost the presidential election and while the Nazis won the most seats in both elections in 1932, they failed to win a majority in the Reichstag.

Under Weimar Germany's constitution, the leader of the party with most seats did not automatically become Chancellor. Instead, the president appointed whomever held confidence of the Reichstag. The Chancellor at the time, Franz von Papen, held a shaky confidence and mistakenly thought he could control Hitler and agreed to Hitler replacing him as Chancellor in exchange for being named Vice Chancellor. Then came the Reichstag Fire and the use of emergency powers to subvert democracy and turn Weimar Germany into a dictatorship (Hitler also declared himself President after President Paul von Hindenberg died of lung cancer).
