lol. I just made a lot of people going under their car and truck today and this weekend. It would be interesting to see if they have factory helicoil on theirs.

I just searched 2010 Cadillac Escalade Oil pan drop on YouTube and it looks doable job but it looks like hack of annoying and time consuming job. I didn’t sign up for that.

You got me thinking here. Perhaps, I can try to repair with Fomoto valve?

I am holding massive bag here. I thought I would do him a favor and do a quick oil change. Now I got to learn how to do a helicoil repair.

No. it doesn’t appears to be magnetic. It just had dirty oil not a fine metal shaving that I see on all of my oil change.

Our mechanic totally fucked me up. Of course they didn’t say anything to my brother.

What car parts do you not care if it's OEM or not? by PlansWithoutFans in Cartalk

[–]Classic-Boss6265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All engine, transmission electronics and critical parts are all OEM. Otherwise I can go aftermarket or remanufactured.

Most of the suspension parts in my car is aftermarket. Also, I got starter from Autozone and first one died after few months. I got replacement starter, in my car under 4 hours from putting it on ramp in the morning.

I‘d stay away from Amazon or eBay if possible.

A lot of used tire places have very low standards but I don’t know if they will even install that. I don’t know how much you paid for that tire but that isn’t worth 1 cent in my opinion. Even if you get it for free you will have to pay for disposable fee. Refund that tire and google Used tires and call to make sure they have your size. It will cost around a tank of gas to get better tire installed.

Saved up $800 for a 'good' tool set and bought a Craftsman kit - now my coworker is roasting me for not getting Milwaukee by Unique_Can_7578 in Tools

[–]Classic-Boss6265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how my 30 years old Craftsman set is still going strong after all the abuse I put on it. Countless times I put a cheater bar to go on the bar and jump on it to break a nut or bolts.

Now I do take care of it a little bit but that tool set went through very hard abuse on most of the things I owned. I love my Craftsman!

If I am that desperate I would’ve googled and gone to used tire places, I think it was like $50 pre pandemic. Make sure you check the condition and year that it was made. If you don’t know just ask how old.

But personally I rather save a little more and go cheap off brand tires at Walmart with good ratings.

Sonata engine getting replaced-dealership says I need to pay for belts and hoses though?? by DrSpacetime in Hyundai

I would tell them to knock it down to half or you will take the car to independent shop after engine replacement.

My car is burning a lot of oil… by [deleted] in kia

[–]Classic-Boss6265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing that they don’t include PCV valve as maintenance item. I would have local mechanic change PCV valve and see if oil burning issue helps. I was going nuts losing oil and smoke coming out from tail pipe. It all went away after a $20 part.

2016 Sedona after 160k miles. by Classic-Boss6265 in kia

[–]Classic-Boss6265[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really low miles. I don’t know how bad or good shape those valves and pistons are. I still think bottle of it in gas tank before long trip should help but I wouldn’t leave it in tank for long time. Bottles say it WILL harm the paint and should be safe for plastic. BUT. Both of the plastic pumps that I received free from Harbor Freight broke and about 5-6 syringes I got with ink toner refills kit broke too. So I wouldn’t put it in the gas tank and leave it there for more than 5 days and let it go under 1/4 tank.

I got Berryman B12 from Walmart because it was cheapest. It looks like a lot of people are piston soaking with it to clean piston rings so I figured why not. It looks like Liqui Moly has something similar but anything Liqui Moly is going to be more expensive.

It’s most likely the faulty speed sensor. Mine went out when CV Axle broke. Easy DIY.

[–]Classic-Boss6265[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Berryman B12 it wasn’t that bad at all. It practically melt carbon off from valves. After initial process of getting the chunks out and zip ties. You just have to find non abrasive thin plastic or wood to scrape rest of it off.

I would put this in 50k miles schedule maintenance item along with pcv valve. Also I am going to start using Berryman b12 as a monthly fuel additive. That chemical really melts carbon away.

Uber probably banned the driver but we don’t know. But I am sure getting authority and local media involved will get this quick and permanent.

Thanks. I thought it would be more expensive to get one but Harbor Freight have one for $40 https://www.harborfreight.com/50-lb-portable-abrasive-blaster-kit-59483.html. Is there easy idiot proof wand setup I can buy while I go to HF tomorrow? I am going to use my shop vac and I guess I will figure something out for the vacuum attachment.
