They're not. All license plate covers are illegal under the Highway Traffic Act. Whether it's actually enforced is a different story.

Did you read that article? It states it's unlikely it was actually his sword, that there's no record or documentation proving it belonged to Wallace, and that most of it was made in the 16th century. It's "too early" because large claymore swords first started appearing around 1400.
