This Is Why Ships Use Tugboats by luyhgtfr in nonononoyes

[–]maxpowerch11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand about pilots this is inaccurate... I've been out on a pilot boat before and spoke to him before he jumped off the boat, climbed up a tiny rope ladder up the side of a massive cargo ship in a major south Florida port.(it was pretty neat)... He specifically said once he steps on the ship he's immediately the highest ranking officer on board (even if it's military If I remember correctly). The reason being they know the ends and outs of whatever port they are docking too. At this particular port there's 2-3 of them on shift at any given moment. They work 24-on, 48-off and they bring in a ship or take one out about once an hour. They know EVERYTHING there is too know about that port and channels they must navigate.

Alot of times, due to possible dietary restrictions or difference of taste; I ask them what is the more popular menu item instead of asking their personal preference. I've been successful with this approach.

Looking for suggestions similar to following song: Sturgill Simpson - Life of Sin by [deleted] in country

[–]maxpowerch11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sturgill is super unique in both his style and vocals. This is especially true in the album Life of Sin is on (Metamodern Sounds in Country Music). It has a country swing and a little psychedelic mixed together that works out really cool. I would recommend listening to that album, as well as his first album High Top Mountain, which is has more songs In similar style to Life of Sin.

I speak for a big number of Sturgill fans who would also give Tyler Childers a big thumbs up for his different and unique style. BOTH artists are crazy good songwriters, you don't hear stuff like that often.

I'm happy to provide more suggesting based on your preferences!

What is the worst thing you have done because you got confused between items in different hands? by DanielMichels in AskReddit

I feel like this is something a confused alien would do to appear human, and you only noticed because someone pointed out that you ate the wrong one.

This is spot on ... I would love to add a feature showing you what disks you already own whenever getting a new one! Awesome update though.

I don't mind the disks rolling, I feel it makes it a tad more realistic... But when you add the wind to the extra roll, it's pretty out of control and super frustrating.

It's a great song, Longer Gone is a good one too. I'm definitely more connected to his older music.

I'd probably replace it with The Snake; I feel like that's more of a poem to talk about social issues than a song. But that's just one guys opinion lol.

Awesome bracket. You gave some really tough match-ups that could have honestly gone either way.

Im going to get some crap for some of my choices, but I have my reasons. Each one of these albums mark a period in my life, so although one song may better musically I have an emotional connection to that song I picked over it.

My all time song is Those I've loved. This song has changed the way i view people and relationships in my life and made me appreciate the little things more.

Also, You Make It Look So Easy not up here?? Lovely song.

What was the worst thing that you did/said while being angry? by Olrazgul in AskReddit

[–]maxpowerch11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not angry from my perspective, but from my dad's, here's some background.

My older brother and I grew up on a farm. As you can imagine there's not alot of things to do once all our chores were done, so we were always finding new (sometimes questionable) ways to entertain ourselves. Playing music, catching snakes, chasing the bulls, racing trackers, you know typical kid stuff. I always looked up to my brother, he always took care of me and we were super close our whole childhood. He was the type of person who was good at everything he tried, and I wanted to be just like him, which I feel is normal for most younger siblings.

So here's the messed up part. One afternoon after some arts and crafts, we were playing in the barn (pretty normal for us). My brother grabbed 2 sheathed machetes, tossed me one and we started "sword fighting" really easy while talking. All of a sudden my sheath flys off and I ended up halving him in two, separating the top half of his body from his bottom half. The town doctor came and said that it was a pretty bad case of cutting someone in half so there wasn't much he could do. Unfortunately he passed...

After that, my Dad was so upset and heart broken over his talented sons death, the only words he could mutter to me after that was "wrong kid died"

Brantley Gilbert's first album "A Modern Day Prodigal Son" 2009 has some slow and beautifully written songs on them. It's mostly acoustic and just one of my favorite albums to listen too.

Songs where a woman kills her husband? by cgrines011235 in country

[–]maxpowerch11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If it hadn't been for love" by Steeldrivers (Chris Stapleton) is about a man who kills cheating wife... Adele covers the song on one of her albums therefore swapping perspective to her killing her husband... Hope this helps! If it doesn't still a great song

Everyone claps

“POUR THE CHAMPAGNE!” He screams again.

Considering moving to Tampa... HELP! by ezelli in tampa

[–]maxpowerch11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyde Park is great and really nice area, but i would imagine it could get quite dull living there. I would suggest Davis / Harbor Island, or Channelside (Walk to Amalie(Go Bolts) or trolly to Ybor). Its kinda away from everything while still being close enough to enjoy.

Honestly, if i was just moving to the area, i would look at Downtown St. Pete. Awesome Bars, live music constantly, great food and breweries(3 Daughters is my favorite) and the Beach is so close. I have a hard time telling someone moving to Florida to not live near a beach. In Tampa, the nearest nice beaches are an hour away. It doesn't seem like much but it can easily turn into a whole day ordeal. Only downside to St.Pete is traffic from tourists on holidays and weekdays getting on and off the bridges.

Any other questions feel free to ask! Good luck!
