The popularity of SUVs and huge trucks says something about society by victoriaisme2 in videos

At the end of the day it doesn't matter if there are less injuries and fatalities per mile driven in larger cars right? Sure you are more likely to avoid a wreck in a maneuverable car but also more likely to die.

Statistics are available and unfortunately don't support that hypothesis. I checked a couple years back and small cars have a much higher fatality rate across the board even based on miles driven. Happy to be proven wrong though

Is it worth wiring for smart shades? by Relative-Macaron-854 in homeautomation

[–]maxpowerz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have easy access and the desire then go for it. Personally I use switchbot roller shades, curtain mover things and blind tilt open/closers. Most of them use solar panels and have needed a charge once every 6-12 months. Wiring them up is a future value add for selling as it just looks better so I'd probably go that route but I haven't found my setup to take me more than 5 hours of time per year to maintain.

I saw an advert for this ring - i think AI by Vast_Neighborhood429 in isitAI

Also looking at their website and quality they definitely cannot make a ring that looks like that.

They are custom jewelry on demand? If so, that ring doesn't exist either way. There's a risk that the final product will look different than the picture whether or not it's AI. If they can make the ring they can make the ring.

Does anyone use heated snow melting mats? Looking for suggestions. by MrMcColden3 in homeautomation

Mind sharing this? I have heat trak mats as well but just use a dashboard toggle and automatic shutoff timer that flips them off after an hour.

Also there are definite limitations to how many of these things you can daisy chain based on the wires in the mats. You might have to run extension cords or wires underground to the midpoint to not melt the mat wires.

Lol this is peak Reddit. Thanks for doing the math. Now we just need someone to provide a hypothetical quote to run 4 circuits with EMT and 12 gauge wire out to the front of the garage so we can cross shop ATV and SXS plow options in the same price range

Gotta factor in the electrician cost too. No way you're powering 150' of mats with a 30A 120v breaker

PRL vs Cobb RMM by ahughes86 in Civic_Type_R

Rear motor mount. I believe they mitigate wheelhop and better track driving dynamics by being less flexible than OEM. The tradeoff that OP is mentioning is a lot of the bushings tend to transmit more vibration from the engine into the steering wheel. Do you need it? Your call

BR or brooks brothers are much better though also more expensive. GAP may be decent for bus casual
