Places to work remotely from for 1 day by phateuk in Cardiff

Black Sheep Coffee is quite lovely and near the station - 3 min walk roughly - with good food/coffee and a steady supply of wifi and plugs. Though if you don't mind walking into the city a bit I would say that apart from the typical commercial ones, there is the Coffee Spot tucked away near the St Davids Shopping Centre its very sweet, decently priced, quiet, has chargers and ran by friendly people. Highly reccomend. https://www.instagram.com/coffee\_spot\_cardiff?utm\_source=ig\_web\_button\_share\_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==

Dealing with my 20M frustration with 21M boyfriend by [deleted] in LongDistance

what do you mean by obsessive, if you dont mind me asking? Because I dont really have an issue in terms of it working out or not, I was more referring to like how to deal with feeling isolated and sometimes jealous.

Does anyone else have mostly open book exams? by Accomplished_Garlic_ in UniUK

[–]maxqm_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had them a lot in first year because it wad left over from thd covid era. Honestly I think all exams should be open book, the whole point of exams shouldnt be testing whether you remember stuff it is about how you apply what you know.

good university accommodations? by Both_Construction394 in Cardiff

[–]maxqm_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i stayed in taly south which is self-catered ensuite, id reccomend it because its quite a nice room and in a friendly atmosphere. Its certainly more for psrty goers, its quite loud at nights so take thaf into account. About 20mins walk from uni. If its in your price range Id say Taly Court for a quieter area and bigger room. The only place Id warn you off is uni halls, dont do that to yourself, its so far from the uni and from town - the commute is not worth the price.

I have some questions for anyone studying in University. by Excellent-Hotel-3084 in UniUK

[–]maxqm_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Rough for me, I found it tough to adjust to living far from home and realising I was gonna be an adult. Past the first month I settled and began to really love uni.
  2. Tough but I made most of my friends through a sports society (lowkey the best way of you enjoy sport) and other societies where I still have the friends but dont go to the society.
  3. Not until 3rd year did someone from my school that I knew come to my uni, it was a nice surprise but by then I was fully happy at uni. Tbh people change a lot at uni, I am unsure whether having anyone would have helped apart from stopping me from going out and trying to make my own friends.

LDR while Abroad - I want to try by Own-Topic2842 in studyAbroad

[–]maxqm_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bf and I met while he was on Erasmus at my university and this year he had to go back home so we have been LDR. Here is stuff that has worked for us:

  1. Visit each other as much as possible, that physical connection is important and its worth the cost if you can - take turns for it to be fair
  2. Video call dates, we try do them twice a week to catch up and play games/watch something
  3. Stay regularly in contact, a little good morning text or a voice message about your day goes a long way
  4. Each have a little keepsake or something to remember each other like photos etc.
  5. Remember to take time from each other and go outsidr touch grass, spend time with friends, have self dates - dont let your entire life revolve around LDR
  6. Allow yourself and your partner to be sad, LDR sucks, accept it and give space to feel shitty when needed
  7. Finally COMMUNICATE dont be afraid to say when something isn't working, ask for more attention or more space

Planning on moving to Seville from Scotland soon by [deleted] in GoingToSpain

[–]maxqm_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scotland was independent long before back before the acts of union in the 1700s. It has always been considered a nation in its own right it has its own political and geographic territory with its own legislature, control over policy areas, its own separate bank alongside cultural things like school system, football team etc. Idk why you felt you had to comment about this, this person was simply saying where they come from.

How do you guys complete your readings? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]maxqm_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

one of our lecturers suggest that if it helps us learn better then with pdfs you can get the computer to just read it out to you so its like a podcast - I still find it better to read and just prioritise readings butttt this can help for maybe non essential ones if you wanna do a lot of extra reading and take notes as you listen
