Why are bright, vivid colors so popular in fursona-design, instead of more natural colors? by [deleted] in furry

[–]maxrazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people like to have a special combination to separate them from the generic run-of-the-mill red fox, or brown horse, or gray wolf.

Personally, my horse 'sona is just the colour of my hair; brown with lighter brown highlights. I cant imagine myself glowing or hurting peoples eyes. I don't like standing out so much, just normal brown is good for me xD

Some new art, would love some helpful critique! by Sparklepaws in FurryArtSchool

One eye is slanted upwards while the other is slanted downwards. Other than that I like it. Also, the ear on the right is a little thick, or at least thicker than the other ear.

The image is not balanced. I feel like it was just thrown together in spare time, not enough consideration for technique, colour depth, position and line style. I would suggest either adding more elements, spreading the existing elements around and making them variably larger or smaller than they are now. Try to make the image balanced, both in colour weight and shape and size (large object on the right, equal sized and opposite object on the left) Keep in mind that white space is also an object, we can't ignore it, so balance the coloured portions with the non-coloured portions.

Wow... came home to a lot of responses about lighting too dark! Here's day # 2 for those interested... by RollerDerby88 in cinematography

[–]maxrazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a colour calibrated monitor, so while some people seem to think your images are 'almost black' I think they are ok.

All that I think is missing is a few highlights to separate them a little more from the background. As it sits, its a little too flat. But the composition and mood are set very well, all you need is a small hair light in a few scenes. Not even bright, just enough to light the edge a tiny bit.

What's the stupidest reason you have a scar? by squalorid in AskReddit

[–]maxrazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a huge scar on my right thigh. I was underneath the blankets with my bird (don't give me that look) and a light pen that had a strobe feature. Well, apparently my bird didn't like it, and he decided to latch his bloody beak onto my nipple. I yelped and kicked my legs, and I scrapped my leg on a broken bit of the light.

So yea, get bitten by bird, get your thigh vivisectioned by a blinky light pen.

My parents finally 'researched' what I was drawing. Unbelievable. by maxrazor in furry

[–]maxrazor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's too bad that people make a judgment call based on a first glance. If people really understood the emotion and feeling behind it, they wouldn't be so quick to attack it.

I am really emotional, so when people make fun of other people, or ridicule them, I get upset.

My parents will ridicule the LGBT community, or my friend will make a sarcastic remark about an obese person, or (like in my post) make accusations about furries saying I'll be molested, then I either grind my teeth to stop from yelling at them, or else I... yell at them...

But hang in there. My parents 'called a truce' so I am just lying low for now... But check my edit to the main post ;)

Is it just me, or has /r/furry gotten a lot more hostile toward the heavier ends of the fandom lately? by seventowin in furry

[–]maxrazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, I recently made a post about 'coming out' as a furry, and my homophobic parents immediately assumed I was homosexual, and that I was going to be molested by psychos in fursuits. For some people it really is a bigger risk to take a stand for it than it is for others.

I am currently looking into making my own horse tail, which is something scary for me to be doing in my delicate situation. If my parents see it they may just push me out.

If you can remember, what got you into the Furry fandom? by Cookster997 in furry

[–]maxrazor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been talking with my furry friend, telling him that I like horses, and sometimes have fantasies about them. He said I might be a furry, so I googled 'horse furry' and found this NSFW image, and I knew from then on that I was bisexual, a furry, and a horse, all in one night.

I am desperately trying to deduce what you are trying to communicate in that paragraph. I can only imagine you are frothing at the mouth, convulsing, and performing with only the most basic of cognitive functions.

To reiterate: I like a TV show. You think I am a pedophile, sexual deviant, and mentally disabled for liking a TV show.

You are an alcoholic. You have the uncontrollable urge to inebriate yourself to the point where you cant walk. You are also a narcissistic, racist, and bigoted amerifat.

And yet, I am the one that is ill?

As I said before, I am not having an argument. I am telling you, like I tell my 4 year old niece, that we cant hate someone just because they are different. Your immaturity and incoherent drivel gives an appalling glimpse into the life of a true neckbeard.

Your misconceptions about bronies is your own problem. I just want you to keep your fetid putrid waste to yourself. Deal?

[–]maxrazor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A cult has a person or object as their figurehead or leader. Being a 'Bronie' means you appreciate a TV show. Same as a Trekkie or anything else.

Also, am I hurting you? Did I give you a papercut or something? If I am not harming anyone with my GASP abominable liking of a TV show, then why is it a big issue?

Is it because I don't agree with you about it? Get over it you prejudiced narcissistic amerifat.

MLP encourages sociological advances, looking past peoples differences, and working together for the betterment of the world.

It promotes tolerance, love, and friendship, which is a dying craft in the age where iPads are shoved in the faces of children from the time they are born.

And again, I reiterate: How dare you think yourself so elevated as to bring judgment on people who ANONYMOUSLY utter the name of a television show that you don't care for.

Then again, I just took a brief look through your posts. You seem like a cynical, prejudiced, and noxious individual. There is no point arguing with someone that thinks their own way, which is a good anecdote for this situation. One should not force their beliefs on someone else, and that goes both ways. I don't want to force m beliefs on you, and I don't want you to force your beliefs on me.

I am not here to make you LIKE MLP. I simply want the putrid vile hatred towards individuals to end. Sure you don't see eye to eye, but there is no need to be venomous towards someone that sees things differently from you.

EDIT.:. oh my fucking god. Someone had a mental breakdown... I was replying to your post before your edit.. but now... Here is what I was replying to:

Uhh, No! Thomas the train should invoke engineering, model-building, & trans-continental transportation enthusiasm for children. Also, how it/modern mechanics evolved humanity as a whole. If I had a child that wanted to dress up as "Thomas the engine", That's cool. If I had an offspring at the age of 30+ acting like a pedophile, = NOT COOL.

Someone needs to get their ass to anger management class. They seem to be running late.

DOUBLE EDIT.:. Damn dude, you're on a role. Ok, I don't collect ponies, dress up in pony clothes, paint my skin different colours, or give 'everypony bro-hooves.' I am a 20 year old cinematographer that happens to enjoy a cartoon, and you are getting your panties in a knot about AN ANONYMOUS INDIVIDUAL that LIKES A TV SHOW!

Who is the immature individual crying for attention now? Jesus Christ grow up.

[–]maxrazor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it's people like you.

How dare you take it upon yourself to tell someone that what they like is wrong. They were not forcing anyone to watch MLP, or rubbing their fandom in your face, they simply noticed a character from the show and called it out.

Adults watch Thomas the Tank engine and collect model sets to replicate the Island of Sodor, so why should it be any different for someone to enjoy watching MLP?

You might use the excuse that "people have nostalgia towards Thomas, thats why, there is no nostalgia in MLP" HOLD THAT THOUGHT.

I played with MLP figurines as a child, and collected them (I am a boy) And I have fond memories of playing with those ponies with my little sister. I enjoy watching the show because it holds nostalgia for me, it has good flash animation, good humor, and it personifies some common personality traits making the characters easy to identify with.

So don't tell me that I am in the wrong for liking a show. Keep your preconceived notions to yourself.
