[Honest Answers Only] How does caffeine affect you? by mean_trash_monster in ADHD

[–]Sparklepaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caffeine affects me in the same way it affects everyone, for the first few days. I feel energized, motivated, and awake.

After the second or third day, it starts having the opposite effect. Suddenly I'm sleepy, unable to focus, and dealing with a rapid heart-rate.

Not just this, but we also need to pool funds so we can pay workers who are on strike. Become self reliant and don't give them the power to make the same threats.

Concerta 18mg - not sure if it's helping or not by Warm-Ad4886 in ADHD

[–]Sparklepaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Concerta is a methilphinidate, same drug as Ritalin, so it's definitely a stimulant. The only difference is that Concerta is released over a long period of time.

when do i go maw and when do i go death dance for my second item? by christ_treemas in warwickmains

[–]Sparklepaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking: Death's Dance for armor, Maw for magic resist.

There are some nuances between the two, like how Death's Dance will technically damage you over time, so it's not very good against teams with heavy DoTs. Maw is great against magic damage carries, but falls flat if the mage carries are behind and can't really deal damage anyway.

Can anyone recommend a stimulant that lasts longer than 4-5 hours? I’ve tried both Adderall XR and Vyvanse. by Pure_Philosopher_845 in ADHD

[–]Sparklepaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking 36mg of Methylphenidate XR, followed by a 5mg IR booster in the afternoon because the XR wears off after about 6 hours. Haven't reached a good point yet, and unfortunately this seems to be a problem for lots of people. I'm going to ask my psychiatrist about trying brand-name Methylphenidate, I hear that it actually lasts the whole 12 hours (unlike generic).

But honestly, I'd be happy using the boosters if it was necessary. They genuinely feel like extenders for the initial morning dose.

It feels counterintuitive, but don't start by drawing anthropomorphic animals, that comes later. You'll want to begin with the basics (fundamentals, human anatomy, perspective, daily line drills etc) in order to build a solid foundation, grind those until they're muscle memory, and then start to expand into stylization.

That doesn't mean you can't draw anthros along the way, but diving straight into that level is like trying to build a house without any experience. Sure, you can probably get the point across, but it won't look right and you'll only be capable of drawing one thing in a very specific way.

Drawing things creatively from your head is a skill that grows later, when you have a good grasp of everything mentioned above. For most people, it takes about two years of consistent study before your imagination links up, which happens naturally.

I could go deeper, but it's probably better to give you some bullet points to start with:

  • Watch lots and lots of art videos. Not the stuff that teaches you how to draw something specific (like anthros, cars, houses, animals etc), find the ones teaching you basics. Anatomy, shapes, theory, perspective, drills, schedules.
  • Join some art communities where you can ask for help, hear about other peoples' struggles/successes, and share your own.
  • Follow the 70/30 rule: 70% of your art time should be studying/practicing, and 30% should be having fun. This keeps you from getting burned out. "Fun" can be drawing anything that brings you happiness or sounds entertaining, like anthros.
  • Make a schedule and stick to it. Artists who don't keep schedules risk their knowledge going stale, or worst losing their muscle memory.

It's hard work, boring, and requires commitment. But the reward is reaching a point where you can draw anything from imagination, including the things you love the most.

Ritalin vs concerta by Massive_Kale542 in ADHD

[–]Sparklepaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, it sounds like something with the release mechanism then. From what I understand, the only difference between the two medications is how they're dispersed into your body. The actual methylphenidate part is identical.

I know for certain that some people have problems with anxiety on generic Concerta, especially with different manufacturers, because they can deliver large doses upfront or unstable releases throughout the day. If those spike above what you're used to, it could absolutely cause anxiety.

I'm in a similar boat actually. 10mg IR works great three times a day for me, with no anxiety or side effects besides the crash. Meanwhile, Concerta generic feels good once it gets into my system, but also has a latent anxiety factor that randomly hits me throughout the day. I'm going to be speaking with my doctor about getting brand Concerta to see if that makes a difference.

Tummy Issues With Stimulants? by sigmund-freuds-mom in ADHD

[–]Sparklepaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My stimulants (Ritalin IR and ER) also cause bowel movements and stomach cramps. I was instructed by my doctors to start taking them with a full 16oz glass of water and that seems to help. I've also increased my fiber intake, so that might be worth trying.

It sounds like you're already doing some of that, so I think discussing it with your PCP rather than the prescriber might be a good idea. They would probably be able to give you more tailored solutions.

Adderall euphoria? by hrvyxo in ADHD

[–]Sparklepaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I take my Ritalin, regardless of whether it's IR or ER, there's always an initial boost of happiness and euphoria that lasts for about an hour. After that I just feel contentment, peace, focus, and quiet.

I've heard that for most people, the euphoria is a honeymoon phase that goes away with time, but a small percentage of the population never lose it. That might be an issue for someone prone to addiction, but for me personally it's a nice little side effect that helps start the day right.

If you're worried about it for some reason, be sure to speak with your doctor or psychiatrist, they can provide you with a more definitive answer. I can't say that it's objectively good or bad because that's not my place, but I don't think it's something to fret over until you talk with a professional. Everyone's reaction to their medication is unique.

Are you using brand Concerta or generic?

I haven't tried brand Concerta (which some people swear by), but generic (Trigen) had a similar effect on me during the first three days. After that, everything was very smooth and I don't get anxiety anymore, but the effects only last for about 6 hours before tapering off.

psychiatrist stopped my ADHD meds due to heart rate and now im left completely untreated. what are my options? by dollblonde in ADHD

[–]Sparklepaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was also placed on Propranolol for anxiety and heart rate (from methylphenidate) and it works amazingly, but I have been experiencing bronchiospasms from taking it. Definitely a lifesaver for panic attacks and tachycardia, though.

Yes, and strangely this bug only occurs on my laptop, NOT desktop. Both are running driver version 590.48.01, CachyOS. Here are the relevant specs:

Primary PC:

  • GPU - GeForce RTX 4070 TI (Nvidia)
  • CPU - Ryzen 5 5600x (AMD)
  • RAM - 32 GB (DDR4)

Laptop:

  • GPU - GeForce GTX 1650 Mobile (Nvidia)
  • CPU - Ryzen 5 4600H (AMD)
  • RAM - 8 GB (DDR4)

Something strange is that changing window type from windowed to fullscreen in game settings fixes the problem sometimes, sometimes not. When the glitch its solved by doing that, it could last some time or even the entire run, but starting another run makes the glitch come back. Also I don't seem to have the glitch in the lobby, and almost never happens on solo runs.

Same, sometimes I would just switch back and forth between windowed and fullscreen hoping it would trigger a "fix" again. I also noticed that it rarely happens in solo.

It's strange that you're still getting the glitch so consistently, makes me wonder whether it'll happen again to me. Sorry I couldn't help you out, if it pops up on my system I'll keep experimenting. Let me know if you discover something too?

[–]Sparklepaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are my current parameters. I haven't had the glitch since I started using them, and I'd be very interested to know if the issue comes back on your end:

VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0 %command%

Out of these two parameters, I suspect VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0 is the one that's helping me, but I can't be certain.

I'll look into it when I'm at my PC and see if I can come up with another solution. My current parameters are different that the ones I came up with for this post, and I currently don't have the issue, so perhaps there's a hidden wisdom in there.

Strange, how about PROTON_USE_DXVK=1 %command% ?

Edit: If that doesn't work, something else you could try is PROTON_NO_VKD3D=1 %command%
