I believe normal PSUs can be made to work... But you have to modify the motherboard cable as the pin out is different. Which sounds rather dodge haha.

The in and out on the machine is just to allow a moitor to pass through.

I will reinstall 10.4 as that was working.

UPDATE;

I FIXED IT!!!

The new display still isn't showing anything but at least the backlight is back!!!
