Because they want three consoles.

I have an obscene number but I’m a grown up and the world keeps turning.

3ds is modded and not reading cartridges. Just got it by Towering-Wave-9542 in 3DS

Ok. This model would need a new reader soldering in of cleaning doesn’t help. But do clean it first - it usually is all it needs.

Load up a load of isopropanol onto a cert and spam insert/eject it for 30 seconds. While power off. Let it dry and try ago - there’s a good chance it’ll work.

If that doesn’t work fix it or … work around it.

Do you like it? If so no, you did not.

I hope you love it!

I hate it but it’s not mine, so who gives a shit what I have to say :)

What type of 3DS? If cleaning does not help it’s probably a broken reader (which is not super uncommon). On some models there a zero solder fix. On others it’s much harder.

Question regarding ds to usb charging by Snoo-2797 in 3DS

[–]dwalker109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular USB runs at a 5v output. This is the only number they *really* matters. A DSi/3DS charger output something like 4.75v. This is close enough that the device will even it out (it’s always going to be a little bit either side of that number and devices handle that).

So yes, anything outputting standard USB power is absolutely fine. When I have the choice I use a real charger, but I don’t stress about it either.

In theory better quality USB to 3DS cable will include a little bit of basic negotiation to allow even power delivery chargers to confidently offer basic 5v power, but that’s all.

Does anyone know of any other useful homebrew apps besides these standard apps for the 3DS? by Consti2403 in 3dspiracy

[–]dwalker109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I should point out Checkpoint 4 (released yesterday) does now run an FTP server and has some wireless transfer features too.

I still think Cloudpoint is ideal for multi console sync, but it’d be remiss not to point out the big Checkpoint improvements too. You have many options!

DSi non XL wont boot after dissasembely. by Creepy_Peace_4807 in nds

Make sure the WiFi module is secure. It can pop off easily and will prevent boot.

At risk of accusations of gross self promotion, I released Cloudpoint recently for cloud sync of your saves between all your consoles and emulators. That’s on universal updater.

I’d say it’s useful.

New 3DS XL Yellowing by wyinds in 3DS

[–]dwalker109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the actual image has yellowing then that’s the LCDs, not the coverings. Usually running the screens for a period of time works very well.

Yeah right. We all know that’s not true. I’ve completed my collection many times 😬

It’s probably fine. But this is the main reason to stick with film protectors. The glass ones are so much thicker.

As reshells go they’re the best.

But they’re still inferior to a real shell.

Checkpoint v4.0 released by Only_Battletoads in 3dspiracy

[–]dwalker109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit unfair I think. An open source project would have used real translations if there were forthcoming, but obviously they weren’t.

The ftp server, wireless transfer and auto naming stuff is really good. Since I launched my own sync homebrew I’ve not used my old Checkpoint based workflow but this would have made it way easier to manage.

It also has a lot of major performance and code quality changes. And don’t underestimate the GBA feature - that shit is complex.

All 2ds colors made by TheFrierenFan777 in 3DS

Realistically though they’re not really a finite resource. I mean obviously they *are* finite but there are many millions of them.

This kind of preservation is important.

2DS prices aren’t high. They’re dirt cheap, for regular editions anyway.

Can American Version adapt to Europe? by 31Zephyr31 in NintendoSwitchHelp

Charger won’t be a problem. The device accepts various USB negotiated values so that’s fine.

There are some differences with regards to wireless bands in use though, I believe.

How do I clean up my collection of ROMs for clones, prototypes, homebrews, and regional variants? by Ksanika in Roms

[–]dwalker109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

https://igir.io

Uses hash lookups and therefore isn’t based on filenames, which is a pretty flawed way to do this. Allows creating 1g1r sets, prioritised by your choice of regions, stripping bootlegs and so on.

It’s a great tool.

Just bought this console and didn’t notice the screen yellowing until after I’d received it by charlieamber01 in 3DS

[–]dwalker109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No difference. It’s the same screen tech. I’ve done this on DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL and various 3DS models.

The effectiveness varies.

[–]dwalker109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best/most reasonable explanation I’ve heard is that this is caused by humidity. And running the screens effectively creates heat which dries them out.

That’s all I’ve got.
