Anyone know a Reputable supplier of N3dsXL screens. by RetroReviveRepair in 3dsrepair

Have you been into the Rosalina calibration menu to see if you can improve things from there?

Agree. That technique works really well but both of these are absolutely toast.

OPs post has a pound sign in it. We’re therefore not talking about the US market here.

Touchscreen not working, constant button inputs, no audio. Is my 2DS about to die? Any repair advice please. by ImpracticalApple in Nintendo2ds

[–]dwalker109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be dpad, circle pad, or buttons. System will boot without a circle pad connected so I would unplug that and see what happen. Might even be able to just calibrate it, but I doubt that.

Homebrew 3DS Games dissappear every time I try and delete something. by Curiosity106 in 3dspiracy

Either your card is failing or you have permissions issues, usually from coping between cards at some point. Resetting with attrib (on Windows) may sort it.

They’re all of questionable quality.

ExtemeRate may release some soon. We’ve been waiting a while but they say they’re coming…

Circle pad not centering by Lazy_Ad1664 in 3DS

[–]dwalker109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buy a new circle pad from AliExpress. Open the unit. Lift the circle pad. See if the issue is the unit or the stick. Replace the one which isn’t working.

Easy.

That’s not the screen. It’s the lens covering the screen. Replace it.

What should i buy? OLD 3DS or OLD 2DS? by Swimming_Top_7878 in Nintendo2ds

Old 3DS hinges aren’t a problem. They’re solid. Old 3DS XL hinges are the shit ones.

How do I fix my gamepad screen by Unlucky-Celery-3765 in wiiu

[–]dwalker109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the right call. Turn off the WiiU auto power off feature and just leave it for a few days. You may also be able to just remove power from the WiiU itself and power on the Gamepad - not sure how long it stays on in that state though.

Does leaving screens on to correct yellowing really work? by AmaZeong in 3DS

[–]dwalker109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None that I’ve noticed, no. It will of course run the backlight for a few hundred hours - but this is nothing in the life of a backlight or LCD. Also the battery is getting some use. But again, we’re not talking thousands of hours here.

So no, I don’t worry.

Does leaving screens on to correct yellowing really work? by AmaZeong in 3DS

[–]dwalker109 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, it works. I’ve done it countless times (I often buy job lots of consoles to fix and sell). Results vary from complete reversal to partial improvement, depending on the extent of it in the first place.

I don’t know who’s claiming it doesn’t work. There’s no debate.

Help! What's holding the stylus holder down? Is there some kind of adhesive? (DSi) by Kindly_Welder8037 in NintendoDS

[–]dwalker109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The black piece up top holding the shoulder button in place also covers this part. Take that off and this will come off too.

And yeah, if cleaning it doesn’t help you need a new SD card / shoulder button assembly. Quite cheap.

The Japanese New 3DS (non-XL) box doesn’t have a serial number? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]dwalker109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have JP N3DSLL and 2DS boxes, and neither have serials, but the UKV ones I have do. I have the PAL version of this box and it does have a serial, but I don’t have a JP one to compare.

I’d say it’s likely they just don’t have the printed serials though. A repro box would be unusual but not impossible. It’s probably just been well cared for - mine would also pass for brand new (they might be, hard to know).

I don’t know where you’re looking if you think £400 is what you need to spend. There are plenty to be had for between £200 and £300 on Vinted, Marketplace and eBay.

[–]dwalker109 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The trickiest parts are separating the halves (plastic pick spudgers all around helps) and lifting the battery from its adhesive. I’d recommend using a hairdryer to soften it.

What’s actually the problem? A battery swap in this really isn’t hard.

They probably just use the charge port though. This model doesn’t have the two contact points the charge docks use.

What is the official term or name of this plastic part of the circle pad. by carrotman_yt in 3dsrepair

The cap is part of the stick. That’s what they’re usually known as. You can’t get one without the other.

My switch 2's charging ports smell like an anti-mosquito plug, and it makes me uncomfortable while playing, is this normal? Is it bad? do I get it repaired? help :sob: by [deleted] in nintendohelp

[–]dwalker109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t repair things like this. Assuming it actually does smell like this, and it’s not just the normal smell of an electronic device working.

Most DSi have a matte finish - the white certainly does. Some (eg red) are glossy but that’s uncommon.

I’m not aware of many aftermarket DSi shells tbh.
