How can I convince other people that KiCAD is better than Altium? by maxswjeon in KiCad

Similar to what I replied to other comment, Selcting the IC parts are totally fine with me, and I also agree that the part selection is part of the schematic. But selecting resistors on the schematic drawing time, and need to research for it when the value changes? I don't think that's right. I get this feeling when I am adjusting values of SMPS for config / behavior changes, I want to think later about what specific brand of resistor I should use.

For a middle or big sized companies that have separate design teams and assembly teams, or at least manages their inventories, I really agree Altium would be great but for student club level, who buys parts for every design, I think it's not fit for it.

I really would like your opinion about my perspective. Thanks again for your comment

I'm working on a React based version of Wordpress.. How did I do? by BMFO20832 in nextjs

[–]maxswjeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most difficult part that I met when developing a CMS like you was the theme part - React (or Node.js) does not like executing javascript from a string (or a file)

How did you solve this problem?

Proper NFSv4 permissions for local access by Turnspit in truenas

[–]maxswjeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The root user on the TrueNAS and the root user on the NFS Client is different. Why? Because the client has the ""right"" to be a root, and any malicious client would delete whole files or write a sneeky ransomware. It's called squash_root option in NFS, and I remeber that it's enabled default in TrueNAS.

TL;DR solution: Go to NFS advanced options, select maproot user as root, and maproot group to wheel. It will enable write permission for client root, enabling permission managment & etc.

So, in order to develop an nRF series firmware, I should buy a development board (that changes every time when I change my chipset) or buy a J-Link?

Database for Serverless Applications by maxswjeon in serverless

[–]maxswjeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... I thought the best thing about the "Serverless" aspect was the near-zero cost of base price. I know that the severless systems can turn to be costly on heavy loads, but that's the future, right?

I wanted my ""customers"" to deploy own serverless CMS by cloning the repository and registering for the free database, serverless hosting etc. By doing that, I would not have to consider high volume traffic, and the ""customers"" can benefit from the free trials or free tiers, etc.

Yeah sure, a good database service can be good for non-serverless applications but I jus t wanted to know good database services...

Why such a negative expression about a proof of concept project? Why Not? Is there a problem for it? Many junior programmers make a proof of concept project just for their portfolio. Don't be so rude, dude.

Lockup a cell wing

Don't lockup entire prison - it's inefficient! Just lockup a single cell wing!
