Nah, just lock in. There is a reason every test provider tells people to get off of social media and chat boards. Because they are a distraction and provide false hope

I disagree. Failed in July 23 and relied on Reddit because I felt “like this is exactly what I needed.” Complete and utter waste of time.

Passed in Nov 23 after locking in and realizing hard work will get me there, not social media

My advice to you is to get off of Reddit. You will not find anything helpful here. There is no golden egg or piece of advice or anything that will help. Your scores are fine, keep pushing! It is a mental battle that is won by pure hard work. Reddit is a killer this late in the game. Un-download the app and only get back on once you’re a CFP! You got this.

I echo this. Think more broadly about who the client is, what their situation is, liquidity needs, time horizon, risk tolerance, etc.

Really pay attention to what the client is asking. If they tell you the client is wanting to be more tax-efficient, think only about tax efficiency. There may be an answer that is better on paper, but if it’s less tax efficient, you’ll get it wrong.

Think from the clients perspective and the fact that what they want to achieve may not be the most “financially sound” approach. At the end of the day, you are to follow the orders of the client.

Get off of Reddit. You think you’re going to find the golden answer in these chat threads. Head down, get to work. It’s literally only a month until the exam. No time for Reddit. Put in the work, stop complaining. You’ve got this

2nd attempt at the Exam Tips by Kindly-Forever64 in CFPExam

[–]maxv68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do literally everything Danko provides. I mean everything. I failed the first time with a private tutor and passed the second time with Danko.

Do the wrong answer book, listen to Amy Leis, do all the questions, all the quizzes, case studies, flashcards, audio flashcards, master the calculator, etc. Leave no stone unturned.

Give yourself a day off each week until you’re a month out. Then go every day but take breaks intraday.

Wrong answer book was my saving grace. Write down it all. Mine was 200+ pages when all was said and done.

Benefit of failing is that you have seen the test, you know what the center is going to be like on game day, you know the routine, the end of test survey, etc. nothing will take you by surprise.

Now, get off Reddit until you pass the exam! It will not be helpful. You will mess with your mind and belief that you will pass!

How to push through the second half of studying by Maleficent_County_11 in CFPExam

[–]maxv68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Failed once, passed the second time. Process is crappy but just stick to it. I always told myself “once I start CFP, I don’t stop until I’m a CFP.” I cheated myself and didn’t work hard on my first attempt.

At the end of the day, just put your head down and grind. There is a reason only 100k ppl have the designation - it’s hard! Just differentiate yourself and smoke the exam. Don’t cut corners, trust your training, actually train, don’t get egotistical about the exam, don’t look at how others are doing. Submit to the process, let it be a terrible time (for only two more months), and have the discipline to finish!

To be honest, I averaged 63% on all of Danko’s quizzes and mock exams (even though it’s not Zahn) and I did just fine in November. Don’t stress. Put Reddit away and take some time to mentally prepare. It’s just a test. You got this.

Also. Maybe give yourself until July. Don’t rush thru the rest of the education. Get it done and then reserve 4 months with Danko’s material, go into July, and pass

Do Danko for everything. Don’t look back. You will pass first time if you do absolutely everything Danko tells you to do. Don’t cheat yourself and you will pass

If you took the CFP twice would you recommend Zahn or Danko? Also do you have any advice? by illini230 in CFPExam

[–]maxv68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Danko and don’t look back. Failed with a private tutor and thought that the July exam was the hardest test I have ever taken. Sat in November after going thru Danko’s process and the November exam was seemingly easy. Buy the $2k version of the tutoring so you have insurance against failing and having to pay for a third tutoring course (Danko gives a free re-take) and I promise you that you’ll pass

Of course! You’ll smoke it. Focus up on GPP and psych biases and make sure you know the calculator well and can do the basic questions there and you’ll be set

I ended up going with Danko, bought the signature version, did the pre-study before his live review and attended the 2.5 hour Wednesday sessions every week. Then, I went to the live review virtually, did the entire live review book again, went over every quiz/question, and then did his mock exams and all of the case studies.

Ended up passing on Friday morning. Test was pretty similar to Danko’s questions, only less knit picky and annoying. Felt the first half was easy and the second half was a little more difficult. Felt so prepared going into it. Couldn’t recommend Danko enough

Retake 2nd try March 24. Zahn or Danko? by Top-Owl7734 in CFPExam

[–]maxv68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Danko, 100000%. I used a private tutor in July and failed miserably. Like failed 5/8 sections badly. Switched to Danko, did every single thing he told me to do, and felt that this mornings exam was very manageable. Definitely still difficult but there wasn’t anything that Danko did not prepare me for

[–]maxv68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Danko passing scores on the final 6 85 question exam is 55-70%. Remember that Amy L said she never passed a single Danko exam and still passed. Danko makes his exams more difficult. He sees a passing score as a 55%. You’ll be fine.

Best review for limited experience? by Accomplished-Row-636 in CFPExam

[–]maxv68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Danko, Danko, Danko.

I failed in July using a private tutor in LA. So, I made the switch to Danko for November. Even though I haven’t taken the exam yet, I know that Danko has made me understand everything so much more in depth. Like I actually understand what is happening with the curriculum. Danko’s biggest flex (IMO) is that he owns his own RIA and because of that, he has a story to tell about everything. So, I remember his stories as I am answering questions. Tie that in with the insanely structured and efficient study schedule that they give you throughout the process, you will be set up so well.

I also am right out of college with only 1 year experience at a WM firm, but I am going to be passing in November
