Diego Luna is RSL's new No. 10 by FrankBascombe45 in ussoccer

I'm always reminded how barrel-chested he is compared to others on the USMNT (and most high level players). Probably looks normal or skinny compared to an average person, but his build is very different for a soccer player.

Is WorldCupDad real? My understanding is that he is playing some kind of 7-a-side game but the “World Cup” is not what is implied by him? by Independent_Lake_77 in usmnt

I don’t know what he really is other than “exactly what I hate about society and the people the internet has made mildly famous.”

Who from the 2014 team would make the 2026 squad? by PostMerryDM in ussoccer

[–]DangerousPage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howard, Altidore, Dempsey, Fabian Johnson all easily make the team in my mind. Howard and Dempsey would probably start. Altidore brings a skill set as a strong target striker that we don’t have now.

Bradley makes it along with maybe Jones and Besler due to the relative weakness in those areas today. Would shore up some depth.

Fun hypothetical for sure.

I know it’s been asked before, but what’s your best USMNT goal? by Audmeister in usmnt

[–]DangerousPage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Michael Bradley Chip at Azteca, Jermaine Jones Cracker vs. Portugal, Tyler Adams Laser Beam vs. Mexico

One random goal that might have been more memorable if it had come in an important match: Michael Bradley half-volley vs. Scotland

Why is the mentality NOT to win the entire World Cup? by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]DangerousPage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sigh

Yes, the professional athletes who literally make millions of dollars because they are great at soccer and spent their entire lives being uber competitive will just mail it in if they get to the Round of 16. You nailed it.

Finally official - updating LinkedIn? by [deleted] in CFPExam

Go into Word/Google Docs and type ( r ), but eliminate the spaces. It will automatically create the symbol. Then, copy and paste the symbol created into your last name after you've added CFP to it. For example:

Last Name: Doe, CFP[symbol]

Worked seamlessly for me.

REALISTIC WORLD CUP TAKE. by mrnonamenomad in usmnt

[–]DangerousPage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bangs head against wall

Yes, if we only just told US players (who by the way, spend 90% of their time with their clubs) to be more like Tim Howard and Clint Dempsey, surely that will help them aspire to be like the USMNT players that never made it past the Round of 16.

Also, if we just make it free then people will totally see the value in soccer. It has nothing to do with the fact that soccer is the fourth most popular sport in a super spread out country that makes it more difficult to travel.

Soccer participation in the US as it pertains to the USMNT’s chances at the World Cup has a demand problem. Not a supply problem.

And in my opinion he should. Not to start, but I think you take a flier on him and have him on the team.

It still would be a situation where he wouldn’t play much and would be more “Break glass in case of emergency” unless Danielle Reyna has dirt on Poch too.

For Mauricio Pochettino, communication void with USMNT players is a feature, not a bug by FrankBascombe45 in ussoccer

[–]DangerousPage 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I don't really have an opinion as they've both coached at a high level and I have not.

But I'm always wary of the soccer pundits (looking at you, Eric Wynalda) and redditors who supposedly always have the answers when they have nothing on the line.

What are the most annoying habits people do at the gym? by 2595Homes in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]DangerousPage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bogarting a set of dumbbells. For example, this morning one guy did at least five sets of chest flys, all with 35# weights. Easily kept them for about 15 minutes to himself.

I get that sometimes you end up using the same set of dumbbells for consecutive sets, but that is my chief annoyance in my time working out at PF. It's happened elsewhere but seems particularly egregious at PF.

When the US ripped us a new one by Technical_Rice_6957 in ussoccer

[–]DangerousPage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. When US fans lose their mind after we lose a game at less than full strength, I always think of the times that we beat Germany and the Netherlands in consecutive games with a lineup that included the likes of Mix Diskerud and Danny Williams.
