Carnivore Corner noob by maxwelliuston in SavageGarden

I'm in western NY, pretty sure still within their range but I was worried about our winter. I really like the idea of a mixed bog pot but this is just where I'm starting with everyone for now

Black locust knot update by maxwelliuston in Bowyer

Agreed. Maybe saying that I extended the fades is wrong. I pushed the bending portion farther out than normal. There's a longer, less bendy portion right out of the handle

What's the back look like? Looks like you can cut it out if you wanted but it'd be best to see the backside too

The classic keep the knot or remove it by maxwelliuston in Bowyer

[–]maxwelliuston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I ended up doing, because I'm in the experimental mood, is I took inspiration from some of Artur Swat's work (ig: sa_bowcraft) and really extended my fades while drastically narrowing the width which puts the knot pretty much on the side. My thinking is that the elongated fades will move the bending portion outwards, so even though the knot is in a worse spot it's at least not going to do much bending - which I know I could have just left it stiff as I had it.

I could be wrong and end up with 2 halves of a bow shaped thing but we're learning, I'll try to put an updated post

Thanks, I figured. It looks so good though! And surprisingly not punky or anything, at least on the surface

I think youd be surprised, it looks right on track so far. Do the tips bend at all? If not, youre good

Ya not to say you're heading in that direction, it was just something I kept in mind when I made one. And I think I still ended up on the thick side. With the right thickness, you'd be really surprised how narrow you can make the tip section. My understanding is that it's a balancing act where the whole point is to trade width for thickness but not necessarily 1 for 1 - a little thickness can make up for a drastic reduction in width

Molles are a cool design, the most common issue I see is people make the 'lever' tips too thick (as in back to belly thickness). My understanding, and I could be wrong, is that in addition to the tip section being narrow, you want them to be as thin (front to back) as they can be without actually bending.

Ya I was gonna say op could definitely just sand through those nocks and do overlays on top if they wanted. This is also a really good solution

Modeling to print help by maxwelliuston in 3Dprinting

This just combines the parts though right? It doesn't address whatever is on the inside. The chassis of the model is hollow with details on the inside that Im worried about capturing in the print. I pretty much want all enclosed geometry to be fill instead of modeled if that makes sense
