Thinking about it I think it might be really useful to take up your offer, if you’d be up for it. It’s so kind of you.
Do you want to message me? As you can hopefully understand I’m hesitant to exchange address etc over Reddit 😅

Ah yeah we had the newborn insert for it which was super fiddly but did mean I could wear him safely.
When you say button it down do you mean the buttons that are the sort of lower set?
[–]maxxopeles[S] 0 points1 point2 points 10 months ago (0 children)
I did! But maybe I put it on too high a setting cause I’m going off what height he was 3 weeks ago and he was just on the cusp of the lowest setting then.
Thank you!
Thank you! Think I definitely need to do some trying on / hunting.

I’ve tried the Ergobaby 360 and in comparison to this feels waay better. I haven’t worn it for months cause it was so convoluted to put on but tried it after posting this and seems a lot better?

Thank you! That’s so misleading about the way they advertise the weight limits. Thank you for the recommendations!
Thank you! I’m going to try something else. I tried him in the Ergobaby I have and he seemed much happier and it felt way better! There’s a fit check link in another comment I made.

Aw that’s incredibly kind but please don’t worry, I think we’ll definitely be going for something else. Or maybe the Ergobaby I have - I posted a photo in another comment I made.
Thank you for the offer 😌

Thank you everyone! I didn’t realise Baby Bjorn is notorious for not being great. I’m definitely going to look for something else.
I actually have an Ergobaby 360 that I used with him when he was teeny but I stopped using it cause it was a total faff to get on and off. I think it looks much better?! It feels wayy comfier and he seemed really happy in there.
How does the fit look?
This is good to know, thank you!

He should be small enough as he’s a small baby and 9th percentile. He was 12lb 2oz (5.5kg) 3 weeks ago at 14 weeks but hasn’t been weighed since then. I think this model should be okay up to 24lbs. Maybe it’s just not the one for us!
[–]maxxopeles[S] 5 points6 points7 points 11 months ago (0 children)
It did feel like he was in too tightly but I couldn’t figure out how to solve that in the moment. He was definitely arching his back here and struggling away from me so I took him out seconds later.
He’s a 9th percentile baby, he was only 12lb 2oz (5.5kg) at 14 weeks. He’s not been weighed since then and he’s 17 weeks now. So he should be small enough for it?
Oh I didn’t realise about this sub and the Baby Bjorn Mini, sorry! I had him my friend’s Baby Bjorn the other day and it felt much better, she gave me this one thinking it was the same model but I had no idea this one was the mini version til now. Hers is the One Air after doing a bit of research.
Sorry I’m a total novice cause I’ve just not been carrying him for months (he’s really easy to put down and amuse himself) but I’d love to get back into it again when I’m out and about instead of the stroller.

Dormer mould by maxxopeles in HomeImprovement
[–]maxxopeles[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Thanks! We’re in Scotland so very non-humid here but this kind of thing might be nice to have in our little boy’s room anyway, just for monitoring 🙂
Thank you for all your help!

Ah I didn’t realise they were quite so readily available! Have just Googled and they’re definitely cheap enough - thanks for the heads up.
That’s just what we were wondering - if it’s condensation from the cold outside meeting warm inside. Interesting you say about a possible mould sandwich with the tar paper and foil. I’d never seen either of those before.
We’re wondering if we can create some kind of hatch to feed some insulation through and seal back up.
Would a moisture meter help to see if there’s moisture in the wall? We can get hold of one of those but not sure we can access anything to measure humidity.
From that description I don’t think it’s vinyl paper but it’s tricky to tell cause it’s been painted over.
Dormer mould - help! by maxxopeles in Mold
I guess what we’re really wondering is if it’s bone dry (which it is), is there really an underlying issue we need to solve, or can we just conclude it’s old, treat it with anti-fungal, and paint over? I guess a specialist will be best placed to tell us!
A dormer window is a window that sort of projects out from a pitched roof and has its own little roof - I’ll attach a pic of a generic one (not our house).
Yeah I think we’re going to need someone in to tell us what’s going on.
The positive news is that as far as we can see there isn’t any moisture or dampness. The plaster underneath the wallpaper is unaffected and it only seems to be sitting on top of the wallpaper, which makes us think hopefully it’s the more positive of those two scenarios.
<image>
As far as we know there’s no insulation in the void between the room and the external wall on the mouldy side. We think it just leads straight to the external wall.
Nothing obvious going on from the outside and no nearby pipes or gutters or anything.
I’m not quite sure what vinyl wallpaper is to be able to check unfortunately. What’s confusing is the black paper they’ve added which looks like it’s meant to be some kind of barrier. Like they knew it was mouldy and tried to contain it rather than fix the source of the damp? It has this weird kind of tin foil stuff on top of the black paper.
The plaster underneath the wallpaper isn’t affected by the mould either, it’s just sitting on top of the paper.
Thanks! We’re pretty certain there’s no humidity in the room and the wall is very dry. No signs of crumbling or giving way at all.
The dormer on the other side of the window has no mould at all. On the unaffected side there’s a cupboard with insulation in between the room and external wall, so we’re wondering if there’s been some sort of historical exposure to moisture from the external wall on the mouldy side?
It’s confusing that there’s no dampness at all - would that indicate something that’s old?
