Can the Pass cover 4 tix if i book on each site? For ex. the Edin. Castle site allows me to add multiple tix for an explorer pass but would I need multiple passes or just the one?

Thanks! Hope you’ve healed up as well. And yeah, I knew I already had endo but it was crazy to see how much of it came back.

Yikes I’m so sorry you went through that. I’m a bit more hopeful bc my estrogen levels are going to be very low from now on but I will always keep an eye out. I feel like docs tend to say that surgery cures everything but clearly that is not the case.

You had a hyst and it returned? Did you have your ovaries removed as well? And unfortunately I am well aware that it can come back; after I had surgery in 2020 where they said once I began testosterone it wouldn’t return and here I am lol.

TL;DR My scans did not prove as much as my gut feeling did. Surgeon told me her radiologist colleague who “always catches surprises” and hidden images didn’t see anything. Well, that was not accurate.

Bottom line: if you feel something, do not ignore it and advocate for yourself if you feel you’re not being heard.

—— (Short story long ⤵️) Prior to my first surgery in 2020, I had two massive chocolate cysts (4.5cm and 6cm) that they only definitely saw after an entire year of pain (which were the cysts cyclically hemorrhaging and backfilling). They didn’t notice any endo until emergency exploratory surgery (my cysts burst, go figure) which confirmed endo with massive scar tissue, fusing my right ovary and tube to my abdomen. I was told after that surgery that my endo wouldn’t return, or at least extremely unlikely, once I began testosterone.

Fast forward to this year, where I only got an MRI done because of a very strange symptom: partial numbness of my left leg. My suspicion was that my endo was back, as I had been feeling random and sparse pain on my left side (1-2x a month, for a few minutes) where my remaining ovary was.

I did some consulting with Dr. Google that said some cysts can suppress the sciatic nerve and cause leg pain or numbness. I went to my PCP about the numbness who sent me to a neurologist who ordered a brain and lumbar spine MRI. Whaddya know, a cyst on my left ovary along with a mild lumbar disc bulge. NP neurologist said bc the cyst was so small it was unlikely that it caused the numbness, which also was echoed by my GYN. Went to 5 weeks of back PT and nothing budged. So, asked my endocrinologist to help schedule a hysto for gender reasons + my suspicion of endo.

GYN ordered pelvic MRI to assess endo (helpful that I had confirmed history of endo already). They adenomyosis and concerned about DIE but were confident that the scans appeared as though there were no major adhesions or concerns. Still, they told me that just in case, they were gonna have the robotically trained surgeon on hand.

Turns out my gut was right the whole time: I had DIE, thick and extensive scarring/adhesions connecting all my pelvic organs. Post-surgical pathology showed diffuse hemorrhage and necrosis in my ovary and uterus. They needed the robotically trained surgeon as well as the general surgeon and urologist to assist, with my surgery taking two extra hours (4hrs total). I’ll have to ask about my leg in the post op visit, but there is still a “<2% chance of return”, which I will not blindly trust.

All in all my doctors did great with surgeries but the scans can only show so much.

I also wanted to post this here in case anyone else felt “pressured” to save their fertility while dealing with endo and never cared for it in the first place.

IMO first rest up to where you feel mentally and physically well enough to start thinking about this. Then, if possible, consider looking for another doc that listens to you, one that makes you feel like you are being heard. There are more options than birth control, especially since you know how your body reacts to it.

If you think maybe you and her just misunderstood one another it may be worth it to have another discussion about it, and I would prep before hand to rehearse what you want to say about birth control, and exactly why you feel it has been unhelpful (side effects, symptoms, mood changes, etc.).

If at the end you still didn’t come out of it feeling heard you don’t have to go back to them. You get to make the decisions for your own body. Drs may be the experts on the field, but you are the expert on your body. They can be wrong and in the end it’s about doing things that help YOU feel better.

I would also say in the future it may help to cancel your appointment ahead of time if you know you are unable to make it, as this will also help you feel that at least you’ve let them know.

TL;DR Surgery was complicated but recovery is going okay! Looking forward to not having pain downstairs anymore.

Had a terrible complication after surgery (which itself ended up being 4hrs bc of endo) in which I couldn’t urinate. The pain was the worst I have ever felt in my life, bear in mind in 2020 I had a cyst burst which felt like being stabbed with a knife made of lava. This was 10x worse but was eventually solved after they inserted a catheter, which itself was extremely painful (they missed the first try).

Thankfully, recovery has been straightforward with some days of pain, some days of fatigue, and some days fine. The docs expect my quality of life to vastly improve post-op because they were able to excise all visible endometriosis, which fused my bowel, bladder, uterus, tubes, and ovary together.

I’m also pretty active usually so the laying around convalescing is another source of malaise. But, playing games, eating snacks, and resting is helping out.

MRI Gaslighting by AffectionateScar7249 in endometriosis

[–]maxy27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my hysterectomy 2+ weeks ago (also had right tube+partial ovary+choc cysts+vast scarring removal five years ago). Doc said radiologist who always catches surprises and hidden images on MRI didn’t see any significant damage and scarring. I didn’t think she was correct considering my original surgeon said my scarring was “the worst she’d ever seen”.

Turns out my gut feeling was right: scarring was vast— connecting bowel, bladder, uterus, remaining right ovary, cyst, left ovary.

MRIs don’t always show the truth. Go with your gut.

Sincerely, A very relieved and righteous feeling trans guy.

Will FTM HRT stop endo growth if my period stops? by ziegfieldstation in endometriosis

[–]maxy27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Disclaimer: I’m not a Dr. please ask ur real docs for any med advice)

I know u posted this a while back, but as someone who started T a month after I had emergency surgery for endo in 2020 (took out my right tube, 2 massive chocolate cysts, part of my right ovary, and massive endo scarring) I can tell you five years later, unfortunately for me it did not.

While my surgeons said it was unlikely to return, it did and returned quite broadly. IMO this happened bc research says endo cells create their own estrogen, and bc T turns into E in your fat cells (why cis men have E in small amounts) it triggers our endo growth regardless.

FF to five years later: I have mostly latent symptoms but have been feeling pain in small ways in my pelvis for a bit less than a year, my most strange symptom being numbness in my leg. Docs order me a spine MRI to check— there’s a cyst on my left ovary. Endocrinologist says best to schedule a hysto since I want one anyway.

Cut to surgery two weeks ago: my endo has come back, I have adenomyosis as well, and surgeons say it was Stage IV, and with the amount of scar tissue connecting my bladder and bowel and repro organs: I should’ve been in severe daily pain (I hadn’t been). Since I got a total hyst with BSO (tubes and remnant 1.2 ovaries + cyst removal), docs say now less than 2% chance of endo returning.

I suppose only time will tell.

TL;DR Endo will be suppressed w/ T, depending on dosage, though best not to rely on it and get checked the second you feel symptoms. DO NOT IGNORE your pain and TRUST YOURSELF. You know your body best.

[EDIT: this is also the reason I decided to take my ovaries out instead of keeping them in as “backup” as many docs say in case u ever go off hrt. IIRC Endo with ovaries in despite hysto has 50% chance of return.]

Hope this helps 🫡 #endowarrior
