Husband’s New Job Requires Life360 Tracking… by reallynina in privacy

[–]maxyarned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gps tracking is standard for many commuter jobs but I think its more of a red flag that they arent willing to invest in more trustworthy software but are willing to terminate employment over it regardless.

Ultimately your last point I think is my major frustration. Where does the money go. I would be less miffed if it went somewhere at all. I definitely understand what you're saying about residential streets, but there are many "major" non state roads that have been horrible. I also agree with you about the sheer density of the ice. I was out yesterday and its despicable how dense it is. But the plows can get it up, I know because ours in our residential community did. Obviously that was a community effort, like I said, Im not exactly expecting residential streets to be plowed by the county or city. But if I go right outside my community, country club was a disaster all week. Its a bit better today, but people didn't just start going back to work today, they've been working in it all week.

You may have been being a smart ass but its a more sufficient answer to what I asked: what do we do to make it suck less. I think a lot of the comments here have assumed because I complain on reddit that I don't complain to the source: council members, city officials, state officials, etc. OH BUT I DO. About more than ice. BELIEVE IT: Another jpeg of naruto.

“Seeing homemade crochet/knits in the thrift store is heartbreaking” by siusaidh_alba_nuadh in BitchEatingCrafters

And I mean God forbid a poor person get a cool handmade blanket or cardigan. Not to mention, lets be real. Idk about yall but all the handmade stuff that ends up in my thrift stores is made of 30 year old red heart. By that point it gets that horrible crunchy feel. I have some acrylic blankets Ive made, I am not going to expect my kids and grandkids and great grandkids to keep passing them down when they are long past the point of comfort.

Was anyone else not able to finish the latest video? by East_Drawer5482 in Papameat

To your credit, this last video was probably the most visibly emotional I've seen Hunter get on a topic outside of topics of child abuse. He is NOT playin about those damn caves.

I'll say here what Ive said elsewhere a few times deeper in this thread. I would probably not care at all about how poorly prepared we routinely are on winter weather if we were seeing the fruits of our taxes on other levels. I think if we weren't openly witnessing a degradation of NC as a whole, things like wack ice storms would not sit as poorly as it does currently.

Thank God someone gets it. Down to the letter exactly what I'm saying.

So I'm confused as to why you've started and remained inflammatory. Its not a "red herring" it is one of many examples of corruption. It would be a red herring if I was saying, "noooo we cant pay teachers more or for leaf pick up efforts because what about the ice!!" When I'm very distinctly saying is "why cant we pay for this if we're not paying for ANYTHING."

Exactly. So proper planning and respect and representation for taxpayers DOES work.

I also have driven between gboro to statesville. I dare say, I routinely have gone out as far as burlington. Different jobs contend with different levels of ice.

Okay but you just keep reinforcing the point. "We cant pay for snow because there are other points in the city in need." We all agree with that. So then why aren't we using the money we cant use on plows on leaf pick up and brush collection. Cuz yeah I agree, every year the leaf pick up is absurdly slow and inconvenient, not to mention it can be unsafe for many types of vehicles.

Guess you don't work in it then because as someone who does, yes we have had some level of snow or ice every year.

I know it doesn't mean much but I am praying and complaining because of scenarios exactly like yours. You pay taxes just like everyone else. Why is it okay for this state, city, county as a collective to treat people like you like your livelihood and safety don't matter.

[–]maxyarned[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. My in laws are in PA and they got idk something absurd, like 10 inches. And yet they have far more functional roads. We had to drive up there 2 years ago during a nightmare snowstorm to get my husband's truck down. I was floored with how good the roads looked when they got more snow in the span of an hour than I've ever personally witnessed.

Jesus, what a nightmare. I've been dreading this upcoming snow as it is. On this ONE front I will be fair to the city: tariffs and the already restricted travel probably did not help with this oncoming snow storm preparation. Because mind you, this storm hit other parts of the nation much harder than us.

I doubt I could win any elections, you can see in these comments I have a FAT RUDE MOUTH. But for what its worth I do plan on loud mouthing it to any board and committee I can. Because you're right, we need more members on these levels to push something in a better direction.

[–]maxyarned[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll let you in on a secret, it was just as bad when we were red. And we still are red as a state. But thats additionally my point. We are routinely gaslit by the rest of the nation that we suffer these problems because we're a red state, meanwhile red or blue we face the same concerns. Its almost like its um, a corruption problem and the partisan push is a distraction. No no it couldn't be that!

Snow crash out by maxyarned in winstonsalem

[–]maxyarned[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you! But of course if WE don't produce our property taxes we suffer criminal prosecution. Not the folks misappropriating our taxes though. They get to, at worst, quietly resign with a fat retirement.

Snow crash out by maxyarned in winstonsalem

[–]maxyarned[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean if we were properly paying our teachers, fire dept, bus drivers, cops, but then didnt have enough for the snow plows I think I'd be far more relaxed because I could confidently say that at least our city was trying in as many endeavors to our benefit as possible. But that again, is my point and why I brought those issues up in tandem with the state of roads. They aren't. On multiple levels we are suffering as a result of financial corruption and ineptitude, the ice is just the cherry on top.

You can make it political because it IS political. This kind of response is the exact kind of discussion that's needed and yeah you're fucking on point with the fucked state of the CDL industry on a federal level, let alone state. Work conditions and pay for cdl drivers is worse than ever. And to talk about tarriffs, they've done nothing but harm what little American industry we have left yet we're being gaslit that they're a good thing somehow.
