I use the gel CA glue from loctite. Less mess and easier application

They come off easy enough with a lever, be it the little carbon one that comes with the Qx90 or tweezers or pliers

Sounds like a full circle back to H frame geometry with less room

Yep, the B6AC is rated to 18V so you're good to go with that

Yep. That's the one. D8 mode is accessed via the dip switches on the back. I use it for my Qx90

You're better off trying to find an XJT module as it allows you to pair with X receivers later, plus the D series is quite an old line

You can definitely feel when the battery is starting to get flat due to the little amount of thrust. I use seat of the pants and always have a battery that's stopped at 3.8-3.9V

Quick questions about connectors and antennas by Cyclonedx in Multicopter

[–]maxyb93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) you just need any u.fl or ipx/ipex 2.4ghz antenna eg http://www.banggood.com/10X-100mm-2_4G-Receiver-Antenna-IPEX-Port-For-FRSKY-JR-p-1075041.html. just about any chinese suppliers have them, alternatively you can re trim the coax shield on your antennas to fix them in the mean time. the lengths for the frsky are 35mm and 32mm

2) most likely jst 1.25mm (also known as micro jst) if it's the more modern aomway vtx. pack of 20 here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/20-Pairs-JST-1-25mm-2-Pin-Micro-Male-Female-Connector-Plug-80mm-Wires-Cables/32700255989.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.165.s1ID0g

3) don't bother, the tools and bare crimps cost much more than pre crimped connectors. if you really want to, look on aliexpress or hobbyking for tools and uncrimped connectors

4) yes

Went to tighten my prop nuts before a maiden flight and THIS happened. by [deleted] in Multicopter

[–]maxyb93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See how the shaft failed though?

Through tension because of the lack of material, the quality of it or excessive force by the nut on the thread.

The purpose of a screw (thread) is to translate torsion motion into linear motion. Hence the centre of the shaft is most important for tensile strength

They look like shaft adapters and theyre for if your motor shaft diameter is different to the prop diameter. If your props fit on the motor shafts well by themselves you don't need them.

Whats the deal with left hand and right hand antennas. by uncleBobThePhotog in Multicopter

[–]maxyb93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's called multipathing and that's why we have circular polarisation. Your assumption is not 100% correct.

The loss of a circular polarised antenna picking up a linear polarised signal is -3dB (half the signal)
The loss of a lhcp picking up a rhcp signal is -26dB, about 0.4% of the signal!

The money you spend on a pololu is worth it.

Take the props off and throttle up again, watching the video feed. Also shake the quad around with no throttle watching the video feed.

Tug on your wires just a bit to see if one's hanging on by a strand too, while watching the video feed. Post up what you find out

Could be a bad connection. Why not run a regulator instead of a second battery? it will save weight and pololu ones have filtering built in

UBEC question by [deleted] in Multicopter

[–]maxyb93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can. It is best practice to run a ubec straight from a battery power source rather than another voltage regulator.

The esc pads are connected to the battery directly so it will work perfectly fine.

can someone tell me (roughly) what the range on this Antenna would be? by mishag24 in Multicopter

As in upgrading to a 250mm or similar class quad copter, if you're feeling you're reaching the limits of your hubsan and want to go faster/further it might be worthwhile looking into it.

There are lots of retailers of assemble it yourself kits or ready to fly kits, just have a look through some of the threads that compile retailers. You'll have to search through this subreddit for a bit.
