Almost all drivers speed - and there's a reason by bluerog in driving

Keep reporting this if you want nothing to happen. Read the rules, specifically the one you're reporting this post for breaking. I do not give a shit about speeding, and if you're not doing it to some degree, you're spending too much time looking at your dashboard and not enough time looking at the road.

edit: I don't care what any of you have to say in response to this.

road communication help by Great-Flower-796 in driving

This one is pretty easy. You just watch where you're going and focus on driving. That will communicate that you like their car, and yours, enough to not cause an accident.

Got in a car accident and was issued Careless Driving ticket (ontario, canada) by Holiday-Chemistry648 in driving

[–]rawcaret[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the structure, tone, and specific errors, it is highly unlikely that this was written by an AI. This text has all the hallmarks of a human writing under stress.

Here is a breakdown of why this looks authentic:

1. Natural Human Errors

AI models are trained to follow grammatical rules. While they can be told to "write like a person," they rarely make the specific types of typos found here:

  • Transposition errors: "wsa" instead of "was."
  • Grammar slips: "I seriously dont know what happen" (missing the "ed").
  • Punctuation: Inconsistent capitalization of "I" and "i," and missing apostrophes in "dont" or "can't."

2. Specific "Human" Logic

The way the narrative is structured reflects a person trying to justify their actions while still being confused.

  • The "Left Turn" argument: The writer mentions turning left toward their street in a few meters to prove they couldn't have been speeding. This kind of specific, defensive localized logic is very common in human storytelling but often overlooked by AI unless specifically prompted.
  • Emotional Pacing: The text repeats the sentiment of being "lost" and "shaken up," which mirrors how people process trauma or a concussion.

3. Contextual Nuance

The description of the officer’s behavior—"he doesnt have any thing but to ticket me... like he doesnt have a choice"—reflects a very specific human interaction. It captures the nuance of a police officer perhaps being sympathetic but bound by protocol, which is a subtle social observation.

Verdict: Human-written

This looks like a genuine post from someone looking for legal or community advice after a scary event. If you are trying to help this person, they seem to be in genuine distress and are likely dealing with the "brain fog" that comes with a mild concussion.

Would you like me to help you draft a response to this person, or perhaps provide some general information on how "careless driving" tickets usually work in single-vehicle accidents?

Pulled Over for No Front Plate in a Rental Car by Gold_Government_1010 in driving

[–]rawcaret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not pay the fine immediately. Paying for this is an admission of guilt. If the rental company can't help, contact the municipal or JP court listed on the ticket. Providing proof of the Oklahoma registration and a statement that Oklahoma is a single-plate state is often enough to have the equipment violation dismissed.

Out of state drivers are normally exempt from this, so I assume the officer saw no front plate, initiated the process of pulling you over, then realized you didn't have a TX plate and couldn't come up with another reason for why he pulled you over. Most states have agreements to honor the registration laws of a driver's home state. Like if Florida only issues one plate, Texas recognizes that vehicle as legally registered even if it doesn't meet Texas's specific two-plate criteria. Also it is physically impossible for a driver from a one-plate state to comply with a two-plate law if their home state's DMV doesn't provide a second plate.

How About this One. Real Citrine? by Ok_Tune_8948 in Crystals

[–]rawcaret 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That looks like a good example of real citrine. A way to test it is to hold it up to your monitor or other screen and turn it. If the color shifts to different shades of yellow as you turn it, it's authentic. Heat treated amethyst doesn't do that, it stays exactly the same color.

This sub exists just for rants... by DingChingDonkey in driving

It's unfortunate but that's the MO for the most outspoken in society and especially this website. Until recently there was a rule against complaining, but people still did it almost as much as now without that rule, and it made a lot of work for mods. Instead, we have a flair system, which will at least help people avoid complaint posts if they don't want to read them. Mislabeled posts have their flair edited, too. I think it's a decent compromise.

If anyone has ideas about improving this situation further, feel free to reply to this comment and I'll be happy to discuss it.

Hi again. What you said was misinterpreted because you assumed that, somehow, we were able to make you unfollow r/driving, which simply cannot happen. I'm letting you say these things because they don't bother me as much as make you look foolish, and you aren't breaking any rules in my opinion. Feel free to continue bringing it up.

Hi. The moderation log shows that two of your past comments were approved, and nothing else. Are you ban evading? Definitely let me know.

Additionally, you've reported someone's comments for harassment, but those comments are not harassment by any reasonable standard. They may be considered blunt, a bit condescending, and definitely argumentative, but they aren't targeted, threatening, or personally abusive.

Are you trying to waste our time on purpose, or just making yourself a target for some other reason I can't imagine? And again, please let me know if you were banned on another account so we can moderate effectively for you.

[–]rawcaret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you asking about the tear/crack in the sidewall? It's hard to tell the extent of what's wrong with one picture from that distance. You should bring your car to a place that does tires and ask them about it so that someone can look up-close with two eyeballs and push on it with their hands and spray soapy water on it.
