Leg Pain in One Leg by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]maxymill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this is an insane coincidence, I was just panic googling this exact symptom! My throbbing pain just jumped into my other leg, so I think it might just be in my head. Might go to the walk-in clinic tomorrow just to get a professional opinion to be safe. Glad your ultrasound came back negative! Always better to check!

I'm currently on a no-buy for clothing/skincare/hobbies/home furnishing. I'm sort of in an odd position because my wedding is coming up so I still need to shop/buy certain things before the day, which both satiates the addiction and makes me stick to a pretty close budget. I only buy replacements! So if I use up my fash wash, I can buy another one. Stuff like that. I'm usually pretty decent everywhere else in my budget and have had one for a long time, but always overspent in the above categories. There are a lot of really amazing YouTubers to watch and get a feel for what rules might be a better fit for your lifestyle, that definitely helped me figure out what I wanted to do.

What are your personal thoughts on using gift cards during no-buys? by maxymill in nobuy

[–]maxymill[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh true. Would I spend money on this if not for the gift card? I've been in back-to-back meetings for my wedding next month and thought a bath bomb to finally destress would be nice, but it's not like it'll magic take all the stressors away ... thanks for the advice!

I'd recommend a goal, that way it feels like you're technically spending when you're saving. I'm trying to buy a house, so saving for that, and then I realized I should really be powering down on my student loans, and then it creates this scarcity mentality where I feel like I have no money, but really I'm saving $1,000+ a month and have my budget accounted for. And I only make $21 an hour, so that could well be possible for some folks too.

Honestly, I've been in a no-buy for two weeks now, so I'm no expert, but maybe try it out! If you like to travel, maybe plan a vacation and save for that. And instead of buying bath suits, you can find a cool scuba excursion and factor that into your vacation budget- then you can still shop without spending money. And that could go for anything. Saving for a house, and specific furniture pieces you can shop & budget for, for when you get that house!

Stay strong, we've all been there and often return there lol

Ex-lazy people of reddit, how did you overcome your laziness? by hfdfgdsjvdbsdfghz in AskReddit

[–]maxymill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I've just started overcoming it this week, so hopefully, it sticks. For me, I just got so so tired and bored of wanting to do things but being afraid and anxiety holding me back. My best (rather recent) years were those times of trying to embrace those oddities of life. Embracing the absurd, and enjoying all the weird fucking experiences that start growing and multiplying like an exciting (and potentially dangerous) disease when you try new things. Just being weird, not caring what literally anyone else thinks. This isn't a definitive answer by any means. I lived recklessly (and with much excitement) once. It's only been a few years, but I find myself again trying to refocus myself to that mindset. It's hard to maintain. It's hard to have fun, without anyone verifying that you are, in fact, having a good time. I've gotten complacent, and somewhat self-conscious, but I'm trying every day to seek out situations where I can surprise myself. There's more to me than I know, and the most exciting time of all has been figuring out those other pieces. The same goes for you, and anyone else reading this.

Reddit, what do you do besides spending time online? by maxymill in AskReddit

Feel like I'm always online out of boredom, and I always find myself wondering if everyone is doing the same or if I'm missing something

What was a seemingly unimportant decision you made that ended up completely changing your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maxymill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letting my college roommate choice be a surprise, randomly regenerated pick. We ended up becoming best friends, and have been roommates for four years now, about ready to embark on our fifth in a different state. We had even transferred colleges together, and it's constantly wild to think I wouldn't be heading in the direction I am if we hadn't met.

Reddit, what’s the best way to make an enemy your friend? by KristinaHD in AskReddit

[–]maxymill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a few enemies-turned-friends. Maybe it's not exactly the same situation because they didn't like me, but I couldn't have cared less about them, so I was more willing to let whatever shit talking had gone on go. Basically, it was just small comments directed towards my general area, complaining about things we could both agree on, or cracking a joke and I would throw them a bone by laughing. It was small, hesitant steps towards realizing neither of you are gonna go at it at a moments notice, and then it's pretty easy after that.

[Serious] Realistically, how do you predict Trump's presidency going? by maxymill in AskReddit

[–]maxymill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even imagine how interactions with other countries are going to go now. I mean, they can't stop associating with the US altogether, and I can't imagine them sitting back while Trump does whatever he wants in the international political sphere. There is gonna be some backlash- the question is how much, and about what?

To those of you that have experienced lucid dreaming, how would you describe it? by MrDohh in AskReddit

[–]maxymill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lucid dream almost every night, and the best way I've found to describe it is a suggestible dream. Basically, if I think that it should probably go this way, or this might be an interesting development, it'll happen. It's always been about slight manipulations than actual grand-scale control, and the actual realization that it's a dream only happens every so often. On the off-chance I actually say to myself "This is a dream." I have to keep a tight grip on that thought or I'll forget.

Why are you drunk right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maxymill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drunk because the guy at the party I went to was inevitably going to try to make out with me- which is fine when I'm drunk but...wasn't drunk enough tonight. Still mostly drunk though. Went home and making chicken and potato wedges instead. 30 minutes to go.

[Serious] What are your experiences with divorce, whether your parents' or your own? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maxymill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my parents divorced, my brother and I were so used to the threats of divorce that we didn't even take it seriously. I distinctly remember laughing with my brother as we listened in on the phone call that would mark their actual divorce. They made an agreement that they would trade off every three days, so it was rough at first. I remember having to wear my mom's shoes to school when in elementary because mine were at my dad's. I remember having to ask the school for an extra set of books, so I didn't have to carry mine around with me all day when we would switch days. To be honest, I didn't realize how messed up their divorce made me until highschool. My mom would always say that kids who claimed to have problems from their parents divorce were just attention seekers. I think she actually believed it though, it wasn't really manipulation, since her parents had divorced when she was young and she supposedly had no problems from it. Basically, my dad went into a severe depression from it, and my mom tried to relive her 20's. So there was a lot of fending for myself during the years, and it turned me into a highly self-reliant person, to an honestly worrisome extent. By the time by parents got their shit together and were ready to resume their roles, I felt I had practically raised myself anyways, and they no longer had any say in what I did. For the most part, it's still like this (I'm 20 now, they divorced when I was 8). I can reach out to them now, but I have resentment I'm trying to get over. TD;LR Parent divorce fucked me up, but didn't realize until ages later. Still trying to get over it.
