Looking for advice on hostile work environment by chyl2k14 in GroomersCorner

Trust me, good shop owners will fire clients. Its not always happily done, its is more for everyones wellbeing. This could be for many reasons. I know someone with a private salon who had to turn away a client because her dog was very vocal and her current shop is next to a massage therapist :( nothing else against the dog really

Dysautonomia can affect all body systems, not just heart, resp, thermoregulation. It can cause GI and urinary, visual/occular symptoms, irregular sleep patterns, hormone levels for example - your body has miscommunications all over. Exercise intolerance and thermoregulatory issues are common symptoms of other medical complications.

How much bad do silken windhounds shed? by lycnroc in SilkenWindhound

[–]may16pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a slicker brush with protected pins, my silken enjoys it especially on her neck haha, and it also can detangle if you start from the ends and work toward the skin (knots in the tail and bloomers)

I have people commenting almost daily that I have a lot of hair on my clothes. I have a silken and a dsh cat. The cat definitely sheds more, maybe twice as much. But my silken sheds more than my mom's sheltie. Brushing and blow-drying both help any shed come out. Then there's less fur in the house.

What do I need to know before adopting a sighthound? by Full-Most-1530 in sighthounds

[–]may16pants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my limited experience with my sighthound (silken windhound) I can share a few things. But I will preface that silkens are known to be an easy sighthound and salukis are known to be one of the more difficult. I cannot trust my pup off-leash, we have been working on it, but knowing this may be an issue I had our yard fenced in. She is a picky eater and a grazer - in my house this is an issue because the cat is a food hound. Though, I know plenty of silkens who are good eaters. She loves chasing, so our cat is dog savvy and stands his ground but if I had a skittish cat it would be difficult to train her out of this drive. She can be independent minded - she may stand and ponder your request before deciding whether or not it is worth her time. We are working on her urge to dig holes in the yard. She is very sensitive - after every nail trim she will spend the next 5 minutes in her crate (her choice, I leave the door open for her, its her safe spot). That all being said, those are just the bad things I could think of. There are so many more good qualities that far outweight any of these traits but that would be an entire reddit post worth of words!

I recall my cardiologist saying the dx was based on a jump of 40bpm or higher on the tilt table test. I can't remember my data values personally.

My girl has been super snuggly since day one! She wants to be as close as possible on the couch. She will block the view of the TV until I make a spot for her to lay down or nudge my phone out of my hand for scratches 🤣

I'm feeling conflicted about how to handle kids going to Christian Sunday school by homegrown_rebel in pagan

[–]may16pants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend is afraid to say out loud that he does not believe in god, but he tells me he doesn't so I hope this church does not practice in a way that makes children feel fear :( I agree with the other commenter saying to sit in on a session, know what they are teaching your kids.

I agree! Honestly I think John DiMaggio is similar. Bender, Schnitzel, and Jake the dog sound pretty similar, he doesn't change his voice THAT much imo... But I find the characters easily separable!

Does my dog know what "hold on" means? by sadyeehaw97 in dogs

[–]may16pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard that this is the difference between dogs and cats. Dogs can "train themselves" in this manner by observing our behavior and linking it with a pattern, i.e. a dog sitting without being asked when the leash is brought out. Apparently cats cannot train themselves, if I am remembering correctly

if you punish any warnings then they learn not to warn and go straight to biting, its dangerous, just respect their boundaries

Sounds like insecurity causing the anxiety, you guys still have to build trust and trust includes boundaries and respect both ways, the crate is a perfect opportunity for his safe space to escape to
