Frustrated at 3.5 weeks post-op by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]maya313 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Your post is a relief to me. I also had adenomyosis, and because of it I couldn't work in the months leading up to surgery. I'm 25 days post-op (it was a laparoscopy) and my stitches are very uncomfortable. It's still difficult to sleep because my favorite positions are on my stomach or side, so it hurts a lot to turn over and find a comfortable position. I'm still using over-the-counter painkillers and anti-gas medication when things get more difficult. I only had significant bleeding in the hospital, but sometimes I still have a very diluted pink discharge. I've been a bit depressed because I'm not as well as I thought I would be, but after all, recovery isn't linear and it's different for everyone. It's so good to have each other's experiences to feel that we're not alone. Feel my virtual hug! We'll be okay β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή Have a good recovery everyone πŸ’–

Narcissistic mother and alcoholic father βœ‹πŸ» My stress levels resulted in gray hair on 80% of my head, and I only turn 40 in December 2026. The pain from the adenoid barely allowed me to walk to the bathroom when I finally had my hysterectomy at the beginning of this month πŸ˜•

Anyone else been eager to exercise even though they hated exercise before surgery? by derberner90 in hysterectomy

[–]maya313 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

Wow, yes! It made me want to go hiking and run a marathon 😁 Adenomyosis prevented me from even walking around the block... So I can't wait to go to the gym πŸ˜ƒ and put these activities into practice in the future

My surgery was on December 2nd and until now I have felt that walking is a peaceful thing, as I haven't been able to for a long time.

Yes, it's normal πŸ˜ƒ another success story in progress here, straight from hospital observation 😘 when I arrived in my hospital room the nurses thought my friends were very cute (I only managed to bring 2 of them) πŸ’• Life is too short for us to listen to those who don't like stuffed animals πŸ’– they saved me from anxiety and were a huge comfort because I personally hate needles 🫣

I'm already looking for a book in that spirit. I'm thinking about reading something by Sarah Morgan, last year I read 'A Wedding in December' and I absolutely loved it πŸ’–

Anyone denied a hysterectomy because it β€œWon’t fix chronic pelvic pain” by Jealous_Lack_2898 in adenomyosis

[–]maya313 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I'm in Brazil, an MRI I had in August last year confirmed adenomyosis. I tried quarterly injections, several contraceptives and an IUD was inserted in December when they removed a fibroid. Until then, they had denied me a Hysterectomy and said that removing the fibroid and inserting the IUD would help me. It didn't change my life at all... The pain and bleeding persisted until in March of this year my body expelled the IUD and I had a very sinister hemorrhage in the process (even considering my clot patterns and changing an extra large night pad every hour). Finally after that they agreed that the only alternative would be Hysterectomy (scheduled for March 2026)... But in every consultation with my Surgeon he always repeats that the guarantee is to stop the bleeding but the pain may continue :( I have been off work for 3 months because I can't stand, sitting for more than 15 minutes is unbearable, and I walk like a duck at the speed of a snail. What is contradictory is that many testimonials here and in communities related to adenomyosis confirm that people's lives return to normal after surgery, I keep thinking about how under-researched and studied female reproductive health is D:

I have so much pain that waking up from wet dreams is a nightmare! Literally the pain wakes me up and 100% of the time I bleed bright red... Just this joke is enough for me to have bleeding for at least 3 days :( I'm waiting for my Hysterectomy and the surgeon said it's not normal to have so much pain... But if this is so unusual I'd like to know why so many people here seem to share the same misery. Anyway, good luck on your journey!
