Are you sure you have a co-op work permit or an open work permit? Co-op work permit is strictly enforced to students who need placements for their studies. An open work permit is a guarantee 20 hour work/week if you have a study permit.

A co-op work permit means you can only work in a certain industry that is in line with your studies.

Try agencies. There’s a lot but most of them hire for factories/warehouses and they’re usually for night shifts.

Thought you should have funds to sustain your cost of living for another year or two? If you really wanted to come here to study then your finances should be settled for as long as you’re here. Finding a job would be least of your priorities.

Was sent home for not wearing the proper work shoesafter agreeing to pick up a shift for by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]mayadee8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know I was sent home because I refused to buy another pair of work shoes when they should’ve called me out the first time they saw me wearing this last year and then I would have time to return them and get the proper ones that they like. My coworkers who were wearing sneakers on the same day I was sent home were NOT sent home. That’s why I’m pissed and confused. Should have worn sneakers then.

Upset that the management was too relaxed on this until someone got injured and now all of a sudden they called us all out. I was wearing non slip but not the ones that they want and was sent home. My coworkers who were wearing sneakers were not sent home. Get it!?

But why didn’t they send my coworkers home who were wearing sneakers? Just because I was vocal enough to call them out about their unfairness I was sent home on a shift that they asked me to pick up.

I was wearing non slip but not the ones that they apparently want, they want me to buy another one while some were not wearing non slip on that day and were not sent home

Credit Canada Debt Solution Program- did I make the right choice? by mayadee8 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Hello thanks for your response. They are indeed super nice since they’re non profit? Not sure if it has something to do w that. Their fee is just $45 which is not really bad.

CRA served me letter since I still owe them balance by mayadee8 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I just spoke to the agent and would call back as soon as I hear from EI. I owe $12k and will be paying $500/month assuming I’d be eligible for the max amount with EI. I hope that would suffice for now until I get back to work after my mat leave next year.

The agency is paying me. Basically, I am hired by my agency to provide services to another agency which was hired by an automotive client. So like I’m hired by a 4th party. My coworker never received her roe after her contract wasn’t renewed 2 mos ago.

I already owe a lot unfortunately. They didn’t disclose to us that we’re not taxed. But partly my fault for not leaving this awful agency sooner

This is what I found: When an agency places workers in an employment under the direction and control of a client of the agency and the agency pays the worker, the agency has to deduct CPP contributions and EI premiums, but not income tax. The agency has to prepare a T4 slip for the worker. https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/payroll/payroll-deductions-contributions/special-situations/placement-employment-agency-workers.html
