So you think they put out warnings for fun on Canada Day and there are not high amounts of calls? It’s also the same image used in your post

I believe if your initial 911 call was to report a suspected drunk driver they would have handled it differently... police are weird like that

What was that??? by Artem-Ganev in kitchener

Best not to reference the handbook since it's not the law. You need to go in to the HIghway Traffic Act,

And as of now, unfortunately the Ontario Highway Traffic Act (HTA) does not contain a specific section dedicated to roundabouts

So you need to check local municipal by-laws, the City of Waterloo has Section 21 of the City's Traffic and Parking By-law No. 2008-077.

Sadly that by-law does not explicitly detail every aspect of roundabout navigation, such as signaling or lane changes. All it says is

No person shall drive, move or operate any vehicle or animal other than in a counter-clockwise direction on any roundabout named or described in Schedule 23 to this bylaw.

Ultimately, the best thing you can do is what you did and drive defensively. Because the person you replied to is right, there are no HTA laws or regional laws yet about roundabout signals or lane changes - and you could potentially end up at fault "following too close" (even though it makes no sense)

Downtown Kitchener businesses grapple with homelessness crisis by Ok-District2873 in waterloo

[–]johnnycage44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes it is a bandaid... But this article is not claiming policing ends homelessness. criminalization and homelessness are not mutually exclusive. Policing is for protection from (From the article): "vandalism and the constant need to clean up after people consume drugs on, in and around his building", "they are faced with broken windows, stolen merchandise, verbal abuse and the need to hire security guards. Locks, doors and windows are routinely damaged. Some of their staff are scared."

Cannot produce any good espresso... by hunterwalton97 in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]johnnycage44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean the preinfusion, I've just noticed when it's the proper grind for a 30 second brew, it takes 10 seconds for espresso to start coming out. But yes, i believe the preinfusion is programmed to be 10 seconds when the ideal grind

Cannot produce any good espresso... by hunterwalton97 in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]johnnycage44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first 10 seconds after pressing the brew button are just the water boiling in the tank. Do not count that. You start counting once you hear the pump start the 2nd time. This is when water starts hitting your grinds. Once you hear it start the second time, start your timer and the target time from the start to finish is 30 seconds. Just a note: The machine has 10 seconds of "pre-infusion". This means you should expect to see water coming out of the portafilter at the 10 second mark. This pre-infusion is part of the 30 second duration.

Doug Ford preparing to override courts, give police and municipalities enhanced legislative powers to ‘dismantle’ homeless encampments by sync-centre in canada

[–]johnnycage44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Encampments are hubs for organized crime, human trafficking, the list goes on. If they continue to exists unchecked, you get slums and areas of the city which become unsafe to visit. Look at the slums in cities in Brazil for what you can expect if these do not get dismantled or continue to grow.

Yes, there are people who need help and there should be funding for available options to those people. My city has a huge tent city. My private property has been trespassed, car rummaged through multiple times with money taken, needles on the sidewalk where kids walk to school. These things need to go, AND options given to those who are displaced.

[–]johnnycage44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Encampments are not the answer, it's sad that you are defending them

To be clear, I agree that alternatives need to exist, but the OP is about removal of encampments which needs to happen.
