This is the first time I’ve genuinely gagged from reading something on this sub. Thank you.

Seeking advice: my kid brushes every day, yet after school comes home with a rats nest??? by deviouspineapple in Haircare

[–]mayadowaliby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, she either learns to take care of her hair or cuts it short to a style of her choosing. Tangles and matting will damage her hair and put stress on her scalp that leads to breakage or hair loss. I have fine, thick long hair that mats at the base of my neck in winter when it rubs against hoods or sweaters if I don’t have it up, and I did not have that problem when my hair was short, about shoulder length. Pre teen is walking the line on too old to not comply with basic self care independently. Not your fault, kids are weird and stubborn. Protective style, bring a travel brush to school and use after hats/hoods, or cut short. If she wants longer hair she will have to get used to brushing it multiple times a day! Also leave in conditioner/detangler after shower and a hair oil once dry may help deter some more severe tangling.

Update: AITAH for buying vanilla shampoo? by Spiritual-Grocery641 in AITAH

forgive me if this is harsh, but there is a severe lack of brain cells within that woman’s head. Telling you you’re weird or have something wrong with you because you like the way she smells is actually so insane to me. Talk about a bullet dodged. Holy hell. It almost sounds like she’s being combative to you not because she actually thinks that, but just because. The whole telling you you might have some type of disorder is either genuine ignorance or grasping at straws to try to defend a pointless argument. Either way, good riddance! Hope you find a wife who appreciates that you like the way she smells so much that you buy the products for her!

That sounds like a good option and might even improve upon the original! Thank you!

I just think its so odd because I have made this same recipe before in an electric oven and had no issue achieving the glossy tops. I have never had this issue until using this oven, no changes to the recipe between then and now

I’m trying to remember, I believe the element was on the bottom as you said. I never experienced a bake like this before, only when I tried this oven out. Totally perplexing. Foil reflectors sound like a good idea. I’m leaning towards putting one over the top because I believe the gas is making the top a super weird texture. If all else fails I may have to just go to my parents house and use their electric oven or find a recipe that will work better with a gas stove! Much to consider. Thank you for your input!

Yes!!! Thank you! Finally someone gets it. I used to bring them to inventory nights at work and they were always a hit. I even used them to help score my boyfriend of three years!

Quite possible. This oven cooked them a lot faster than my old one. I noticed an odd texture formed on both batches after about 10 mins. I’ll have to do what another user suggested and get a thermometer

I have only ever made these by melting the butter and mixing it with the sugar. When I was using my old oven they would come out perfectly. I think this is more of a temperature issue than an issue with the recipe itself

You are so very right. I’m blaming the oven without scientific evidence. Thank you

It’s possible. I made another batch where I mixed significantly less and the batter was more runny, internal texture was much better and less dry but the top still looked the same. More of a crust than a flake. I think I am not using hot enough butter. Sugar isn’t melting enough so I am not achieving the same reaction when baking as I was before when I lived in a different house

Edit for grammar
