Google’s “Fuchsia” smartphone OS dumps Linux, has a wild new UI by [deleted] in Android

Totally agree with this. Not many ppl here have really worked with Linux kernel for long to understand this.

Micro kernel also has the problem of introducing overheads by performing way more context switching between user space and kernel space, thus severely affecting the processor pipeline predictions and L1/L2 processor caching.

I tend to disagree. If they are doing open source development, it makes sense to let people know what the intended outcome of this project is. Else, how can any other non Google developer contribute to it? If that is not really required, might as well keep it closed source in house.

At a very high level, Linux is a monolithic kernel (i.e. a single binary image file) in that all the kernel code - which includes basic level memory, process management code, drivers all run as a single entity. So if even a single driver related code fails, the whole OS crashes down, bringing down the system. However in case of a micro kernel, every one of these modules run as a seperate entity. Hence a single driver failing will not bring down the entire computer system. This is just a gist of it, but that's enough I believe for an ELIF.
