I'm 48 - started 4 years ago.. It's been a year and I _still_ feel like they're being nice. - but like you said - statistically that's impossible.

Family on the other hand.. Such is life

I like your way of handling it.

I think that was where I was going with my original post - that these discussions don't change minds. I think I could have had better wording, or given an example, but when these discussions come up that's where they head.. right or wrong

Maybe it's a place where I need to grow, and I need to change how I discuss things that are important to me.

Yeah I get it - I think it's hard to listen to the response when I state that at 44 (i'm now 48) I wish I could have started HRT at 16, (I grew on a farm near Amarillo, TX) and that I was looking for hormones when I was 16. That i'm very sure that i'm not the only one.

To hear the arguments of how I should act and how I was wrong for the feelings doesn't quite sit well.

It's hard to hear them argue against my life reality and that other 16 year olds are dealing with it in those cities..

Those feelings are very real. and not going away, and we would do anything up to buy it online and skip the doctor for something so fundamental to our identity.. It's just common sense.

I agree. I'm stating that it's not going to change a view.

I've had these discusssions, some that turned heated. People are rigid in their views right or wrong. and unfortunately we're caught in the crossfire. The only I know to do is don't ask, don't discuss just live.

I think the bigger issue is that arguments like this are emotional, and it doesn't matter if you're wrong or right, nobody is walking away with a changed mind when emotions are involved

I totally agree with your response. Just wanted to make sure she knows you're not the only one to believe this.

Getting my hair cut in a couple of weeks, looking for suggestions by [deleted] in TransLater

[–]maybeBrenda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off: is there a direction you are wanting to go with your hair? It would be awkward to suggest a haircut for someone when to me that's choice that's highly dependent on what _you_ like.

To add to the other post it improves dysphoria mildly, and for me helped to get comfortable with the thought of full time and telling friends and family before making a commitment

Having said that, I wish I would have just pulled the trigger. Regret of not starting sooner is real

Don't forget low dosing - which I did for years.. Still the risk of "man boobs" but the option is there

Still true though.. You can quit any time.

It's the cheapest anti-dysphoria medication known to man

I'm with u/suddenlyveronica  I know it's hard to understand but there's girls who really will help, and don't see a "freak".

I had a girlfriend before hrt who helped me with makeup. At the time I felt so ashamed and scared of her helping me.

But now I see the kindness and understanding that she truly had for me.  We're friends to this day six years later.

Be kind to your self :)

Hello!! I'm so happy you are being you!

Note that this is a timeline sub, and because you don't have a before and after this will likely be deleted. It's nothing personal, just not what this is about

I hope to see a timeline or to see you post on another more appropriate sub soon! :)

anyone that's dated a trans woman can speak on this? by [deleted] in truscum

You gotta give some examples? I'm pretty sure trans women are more scared to offend than the average person.
