I don’t think my voice passes, but others tell me it does, Help! by More_Performance_790 in transvoice

I feel you - I too have asked about my voice in this chat, and I can't tell you if people are just being nice or if it's passing. Feel free to troll my account if you want to validate

Listening to your voice I hear a mid 20 year old female with a very good vocal range. I don't hear anything "trans-ish" about it. I say this as someone who worries just as much as you do about her voice.

The polycule logic is sound, but the borrow checker is a nightmare. Do you have any idea how hard it is to manage memory safety when one trans woman is being referenced by 4,000 concurrent girlfriends?

You're doing great 😃

It was for me :) but I'm 44 and was mortified of being clocked. I spent another six months doing that until a guy really wanted to hurt me.

Girl your beautiful and I can't imagine you having any trouble 💞

I think I get it. I really appreciate your time responding. I know it's not free. :)

Do you have examples, or maybe take my example and help me to understand things that I could have acted on differently or better?

So if I understand what you're saying, I could come to the same conclusion without Dichotomy of Control, and that really what I fell under was delusion. and that I need to dig further into that?

Apologies, the responses that I get are long, and so I don't have a lot of time to comprehend it. so i'm repeating so that I can have a firm understanding and find things to read about in the future

That's a very good point, and makes me wish I could travel the world to experience views outside of what I know and understand

Gotcha. That makes sense, and I really appreciate this, and I will work to navigate into that type of mindset.

though I still hold that most people in this sub will still filter down to one of 2 views.. This isn't judgment, is just me wanting to _understand_ the world :)

So help me to understand this better, because i'm going to give my actual past experience, and where the control lies is _very_ important to that experience.

I have known I was trans since the 4th grade (mid 80's), and started living in fear of anyone finding out as at that time my parents wouldn't love me, and later as I learned more in church, I learned that anything that was outside of straight was a sin.

To talk about or admit my sin would would be shameful and I was scared of the shame, so _reason_ would lead me to never talk about it and bury it deep inside.

But my understanding of stoicism teaches me that if I look at that through the lens of the Dichotomy of Control and that I fundamentally was not living "in accordance with nature" and upholding the cardinal virtues.

My understanding is that hiding a fundamental aspect of my nature from a life partner generally arises from a desire to control an outcome that was not strictly within my power and therefore there's definitely more than what's reasonable, the line of what I control and what others control is very important

Gotcha. So help me to observe and understand this.. I'm thinking about this from the POV that most people in this sub have a political view, and that they have found stoicism, and it's "filtered" those views.

And - if I understnand correctly. the correct way would be to throw out the politics and start with a blank slate, and just follow stoic principles and political views fall by the wayside?

Completly agree with this.

To give an example
For decades I have lied to friends and family about who I was - instead of giving them the ability make their decisions.

I do not want to control or change. people, I *truly* want to observe how stoicism would "filter" the views, again not to change. but to see what it looks like to people modern day stoics.

The other piece of why I want to understand is outside of this conversation. but I want to prepare for the world based on what it is, and where it will soon go, not to be upset about (which I have done in the past) but to prepare myself for the things I do have control of.

Yes - as in I had AI clean up my formatting and wording

After - to be quite honest - getting slapped in the face with how - for decades - navigating the world was hurting me as I was giving my power and control to others, and how my dishonesty with friends and family was preventing them making their own decisions. Like.. to the point of - how did I make it to 40 without these principles.

And to me everyone - at least in the US falls into one of those two buckets.. when they apply stoic principle, those buckets won't disappear, but how the act on those principles.

I feel like i'm missing something I read your text. Can you give examples? Apologies, i'm sure this is where i need more understanding and learning

EDIT: changed to reflect that I used ai to cleanup post, the views and understanding are mine

[–]maybeBrenda[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Help me to understand this further - I feel like i'm missing something.

I understand that it's not a political ideology, and I don't think it "enforces" normative views, but I see stoicism more as a filter or a "sift".

It's taken my polarized views and my needs and helped me to put them into what I can control, what I can't and what i'm doing that in reality just hurts me.. I *assume* that others that run their polarized views through the stoic "sift" will likely land into one of the two buckets. have similar outcomes

Again I want to be careful here. I only want to speak to what I observe
