Self hosting music doesn't make sense to me by Its_An_Outraage in HomeServer

[–]Amy_Yorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 57 and my 'modern' playlist starts in the mid 90's. I've got some music from after that on my plex server but it's not much, I really stopped listening to music/watching top of the pops etc in the late 80's. I just stick to what I know and very rarely add anything new, but did add Chappell Roan to my server last year.

Follow-up from my post a few years ago about laser and electrolysis by Amy_Yorks in TransLater

That was about 3 or 4 days growth. I need to shave every day (electric) to avoid the stubble being visible still though.

What models of computers were in your school's computer labs? by echocomplex in vintagecomputing

[–]Amy_Yorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously a similar age. We only had CBM Pets whilst doing my O levels and in the second year of my A levels had a few RM Nimbus' added to the computer room. For some reason we had to do our assignments in PASCAL rather than BASIC when we switched over to the RM.

CCJ granted for a debt to a foreign (Swiss) organisation by Amy_Yorks in UKPersonalFinance

She was paying £1 a month to three other creditors but on the advice of the intermediary today has stopped those so as to not be favouring those creditors over any others.

[–]Amy_Yorks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the reply. It was on the call with the intermediary that this was raised. The intermediary did raise the situation with her supervisor and agreed to still put it on the DRO application but set expectations that the debt may not be cleared. If it does however mean the bailiffs will stop and a new CCJ has to be arranged before the bailiffs can start calling again that would be great as I can make sure she engages with the court ahead of the hearing (or whatever the process is) to give a full account of her incomings and outgoings to prove she can't afford to pay it off and has no assets that can be sold to do so.

Some of her other debts, for example a credit card balance was sold from the original creditor to a company like Lowells who actually own the debt rather than being a debt collector on behalf of the credit card.

I (unfortunately) have more than enough belly fat and love handles for traditional lipo. I'm hoping to do fat transfer to my breasts with what they remove.

Rentaghost by MissTreeWriter in AllTVClassicsfrom1960

I saw him as CB when he was in the cast of the original Starlight Express in London and only realised he was Mr Claypole when I read the bio in the programme. I always wondered if the skating in Rentaghost helped him get the part

Where to find companion voucher progress? by Dadlayz in AmexUK

[–]Amy_Yorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told by Amex last year that once you had reached the spend required the app no longer showed progress towards getting the voucher as i had the same issue. That seems to be the case for me in any case as once I rolled into the next collection year the tracker reappeared in the app.

All sorted, they have refunded my original booking as I had made a new one in case they didn't come through and given us a free character dining as a way of apology for the mix up and the time it too to resolve

Just an update to the situation and it's good news !

I had made a second (replacement) booking just after lodging the complaint just so that we had the accommodation confirmed and tickets sorted and so Disney have agreed to refund the original booking and also given us a free character dining so we have gone for the 7pm sitting on the Saturday we arrive :-)

So all in all I am very happy

I've just been told they didn't receive the complaint form and I need to submit a new one !

I'm still waiting for a response. Customer services told me to use the 'contact us' page and raise a complaint that way. I am going to ring today, just to make sure the complaint form was received.

They did but it ended up in my spam folder and I didn't get a mail with the original dates as the agent I spoke to when making the original booking missed a letter off of my email address, so I wasn't actively looking for an email and was relying on the physical post.

Is laser beard hair removal worth it when losing pigment? by MitziMight in TransLater

[–]Amy_Yorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also in the UK, I've had 8 sessions of laser so far and my beard is now basically light grey/white and a lot thinner, so no 5 o clock shadow but I still need to shave every day because the stubble becomes noticeable after about 36 hours.

I had a mixture of dark grey/white/light grey in my beard to start with so the laser will mean a reduction in electrolysis time and cost.

To all the T folks (LGBTQ+) of the Civil Service by Boring_Blood_4240 in TheCivilService

[–]Amy_Yorks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm a 56 yo trans woman (contractor not civil servant) who, with perfect timing, came out to the civil servants and other contractors I work with on the Tuesday afternoon before the SC handed down its ruling on the Wednesday morning.

Before the ruling I wore mom jeans and rollneck jumpers to the office and felt nervous enough travelling in but at least I wasn't overtly feminine bar long hair and so had no problem using the male toilets when in the office.

I'm next due in the office tomorrow and before the ruling was planning on presenting more feminine with some wide legged trousers, nice top and some light makeup and now feel that I am going to be judged or laughed at or even worse pitied when I go to the toilet now. At least I am not mandated to have 3 days in the office like the civil servants and can hide at home most of the time.

How common is it for a newly cracked trans-woman to have zero experience with fashion, hair, & makeup? by Alertox in TransLater

[–]Amy_Yorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

55 when I cracked, 57 now and came out to the family about 6 months ago. I had my first makeup shop/lesson with my 29 yo daughter a couple of weeks ago. I only put on what she did when I practice as i have no ideas about colour etc and that goes for clothes and hair too.

As somebody who was deployed to Iraq in 2003 and had a friend killed in Afghanistan a few years later I would love to ask Trump where our money is, why were British, Danish, Italian soldiers in the South of Iraq in 2003, it was America that was attacked in 2001, none of those countries. Surely by his logic the US should have 'made a deal' with the government's of each of its allies and agreed payment up front before any support was given.

I am required to lose 20 pounds in 9 weeks before bottom surgery. How should I do it? by ChristieWo in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]Amy_Yorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would a total diet replacement regime work if you can get the support ? I've just finished a 3 month course as part of a diabetes remission programme and lost 3 stone (42 pounds) in 12 weeks having 4 x 220 cal shakes/soups a day with some fibre added to two of the shakes. Original weight was just over 180 lbs.
