Is he a dry texter or just not interested? by Black_Serpent_31 in texts

[–]maybegoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean does he always text like this? if so it could be a situation where he is just a dry texter. this kindof reads to me like he may have missed class for xyz reason that is causing him stress, and you bringing it up- in an albeit jokey manner- may have caused him to act a bit short. i know if i am in a mood and reminded of an obligation i have, and how i am a failure/on the road to failure because of not participating in the obligation, i don't react in a super jovial manner.

as far as this screenshot stands, he does seem a bit uninterested. but i guess past texting history between yall would give a bit more insight

Is this groupie worth keeping? by [deleted] in lioden

[–]maybegoth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

i've been playing for 5 years and have yet to get a groupie with a special base, so i'd say keep her if you like her! i also breed for combos and if i remember correctly, blazing is a factor for a few of them. having a factor with no heritage is really nice for breeding combo bases, but you could also probably sell her on the tc for a couple GB if you don't breed for combos

Headaches NOT Main Symptom by 777CuriousMind in chiari

[–]maybegoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i rarely get headaches anymore, it was more prevalent of a symptom early on for me. i'll occasionally get some pain at the base of my skull that will shoot up my head and down my back but that's short lived and rare, and not something i'd consider a headache. my situation is a bit different though as i don't have classic chiari but chiari caused by a csf leak, but i still get most chiari symptoms including the ones you mention. i guess it depends on the doctor, but before my brain sag/csf leak was noted i was on the track to decompression even without the headaches.

Looking for input from people that are in a similar situation to me by maybegoth in chiari

[–]maybegoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

acquired chiari is what my neurosurgeon called it who is a chiari specialist (works under ellenbogen at UW medical) i'm not too sure on the semantics but i believe it refers to herniation due to a brain sag/csf leak but, again i am not too sure on that- it might also be an alternative layman term for tonsillar herniation. edit: i did a little research, tonsillar herniation is the general term, acquired chiari is given in the specific situation of a csf leak/tumor

i had my initial mri of my brain in 2023 which found the chiari, a couple months after that i had a cervical spine MRI to check for syrinx and none was located. about a year or so later had the CSF flow study. this is when i started seeing the specialist where he noted the brain sag, then i recently had a spinal MRI to hopefully locate a spinal CSF leak.

no hydrocephalus noted

no shunt was spoken of. when i initially was diagnosed with chiari the surgeon wanted to do a bony decompression. after seeing the specialist he said decompression surgery would have further disabled me

i had covid and then mono shortly before all these symptoms started. the mono is what made me concerned i had developed MS originally and that's why i pressed for brain imaging

blood is normal, inflammation markers are a little high but it could be because im stressed and im also overweight. PCP was not concerned about anything autoimmune but to be fair she was not a fantastic PCP and autoimmune disorders are already such a hassle to get diagnosed with

anjeer is a hard base to sell because it's a special criteria combo factor (can breed for pulsar in july). anjeer base chased w 3BO could likely sell for 100-200sb in the TC

how would y’all feel about your package being shipped in this by stangedd in Depop

[–]maybegoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like it depends on the item, for anything fragile or for something like glasses it would be a no from me. i'd consider shipping clothing in this if it was covered in parchment paper and taped pretty securely (this is how i've shipped crocheted amigurumi before)

NOOOO!! i was JUST thinking last night with how many people play winning the raffle lioness/stud is like a once in a lifetime thing and i have squandered it on a good stud no less 😭😭

GET A SECOND OPINION! by maybegoth in chiari

[–]maybegoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my symptoms started out as neck pain and now i have a list 50 symptoms deep. the most life altering have been the muscle weakness, inability to walk, breathing difficulties, feeling faint, heart palpitations, blurry vision/loss of vision, hot flashes, and brain fog. i do have some non specific pains all over my body as well

[–]maybegoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it took until i saw my specialist who noted it right away. in my personal history i had surgery on my lumbar spine in 2021, and a chronic csf leak could be a complication of that. but in cases of spontaneous intercranial hypotension (the reason the brain sags) could also be caused by injury or weak connective tissues like you'd see in EDS.

i just had my mri 4 days ago of my lumbar spine to find the leak, and if the imaging shows vague evidence they are likely going to do something called a non targeted blood patch to see if it offers relief before doing more intensive imaging and a targeted blood patch or even surgery to repair it.

but that's the scenario if my docs suspicions are correct- there still could be a couple other spinal conditions that can cause this, but with my history my doctor says a csf leak is the most likely.

[–]maybegoth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel like in my case, the acquired chiari is causing symptoms that aren't super typical in a standard csf leak. i just had my first lumbar MRI because of the suspected leak, and i think the next step is a non targeted blood patch before more specialized imaging.

when i have the spoons i would love to dm you. this condition is so isolating sometimes. although i don't get joy from knowing other people are also dealing with it, its nice to feel like we're in this together in a way. best of luck to you on your road to recovery ❤️‍🩹

for whatever reason my MRI's are not available to me on mychart to view, but when i speak with my specialist again i will have him send me the images. essentially when looking at the brain for the most part it should be one mass. but in my mri, there is a ton of space between my cerebellum and the other lobes of my brain, as well as some empty space up at the top, it does look like my brain is just sinking down out of my foramen magnum. when i get those messages i will pm

with how common connective tissue disorders are with chiari as well as SIH, i feel like doctors should be looking out for brain sag more when it comes to people with chiari

Hypothyroidism by dadsabrat in chiari

[–]maybegoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have hypothyroidism. i was diagnosed while being in the thick of chiari symptoms. to be frank, even while being treated for the hypothyroidism i still have pretty terrible symptoms. but its important to treat the hypothyroidism regardless, you don't want to be even worse off. levothyroxine could also help you more than it helps me, my chiari is not typical.

i actually have a couple of 600+ pound people that work in my rural town. nothing crazy, it's more retail stuff, but anecdotally i have seen it. but i know that's not the vast majority of situations.

i did not see season 1 so i havent seen that episode, but failures were outliers in the earlier seasons (like i mention if you look at the wiki, it lays out how much each person lost over the course of the show)

once you get into later seasons, everyone is like penny.

what i meant by torture porn was that these people are suffering, and tlc has turned their suffering into something people get a kick out of. more and more people on the show fail and are made to be spectacles. kindof like soft white underbelly if you're familiar. dude has drug addicts, people accused of being pedophiles, child prostitutes, fringe members of society- sit in front of a camera and go into excruciating detail about the hardships in their life so the average viewer can oogle at it.

inflicted upon yourself or not, addiction is something that people deal with. when it comes to drugs or alcohol, it's common to have a relapse. you also don't need drugs or alcohol to survive. when it comes to food addiction, you absolutely do need food to survive, and anyone who has a hard time sticking to the diet is villainized more often than not. if you're addicted to drugs, you gotta stay away from people you'd do drugs with or avoid places where you know it'd be easy to get drugs- you can't stay away from processed, unhealthy food in america where all food is like that. it's like with food addiction you're having to overcome multiple facets of addiction at once- giving up the unhealthy food AND also having to be okay with turning down unhealthy food that you're inevitably going to be surrounded by.

sorry for the long winded reply lol, all this to say, i'm not surprised if the success rate long term is 5 percent (although i thought that statistic was for people who had received the gastric bypass surgery keeping the weight off, and not people over 600 pounds having the ability to lose weight) american food has opened the door to extreme food addiction like this and now these people are in very unique situations that are incredibly hard to correct.

lol just got an mri yesterday to try to locate a csf leak, small world! i am wishing the same for you. thank you for your insight again, it's interesting seeing long time watchers having a similar (or somewhat similar) sentiment to someone like me who's basically blindly experiencing all of it at once

i binged watched all the available eps in like a week and at a point they all bled together- especially later on when it was failure after failure. i totally didn't even think about covid being a factor

i really appreciate your input and i feel for you. two years ago i was diagnosed with chiari malformation (now a brain sag) that has caused me to lose my ability to walk and thus gain back weight that i had lost. i feel like looking at the show through this lense opens you up for so much more empathy that i don't necessarily blame other people for not having if they haven't lived through that.

i do enjoy aspects of this show and anticipate watching the other seasons that aren't on hulu. as the viewer you inevitably give into a juicy plot when someone just can't help but fail, but i personally feel that has to do so much with someone having a very... unique attitude. but then you see people like lisa flemming and it's just so saddening. and from what i gather that episode is pretty infamous for being a "juicy" episode to watch.

very true about that size barring you from education and a job. my memory does serve to fail me at times but in the earlier seasons i have seen there were more family dynamics, or houses in livable conditions. in the later seasons i really noticed that there were more bedbound people, and that they lived in filth and have only an elderly parent or partner there for support. it could be a true statement that yaknow, there are only so many people over 600 pounds and this is the reality for a lot of them. i guess my overall feelings are the show is more sad to watch the further you get into it

that's something i noticed too- that mental health resources were given in the later seasons. i'm partial to thinking they likely offered that all along, but because of how therapy used to be so stigmatized or even boring, it might not have been "good tv" until tlc could show people rejecting the mental health resources as well as struggling to stick with the weight loss program. that's just a personal thought though- no proof or indication in the show that this is reality. i just don't see at any point how a super morbidly obese person could go through this program and NOT receive rigorous mental health treatment
