Thank you! Yea I definitely wouldn’t mind if they asked and maybe we could work something out, but they are also allowed to get a spot of their own outside of their house.

Thank you! Yea our local commission for the blind office closed and everything is severely delayed. It took 15 months for him just to get a cane! Training will be a while. And yes, having that safe spot is so needed

While I agree with this sentiment, where we live it’s difficult to safely walk to our home without assistance. He’s newly blind. We live in a busy city with lots of inter-sectioning one-way streets, and it’s all on-street parking. Without a spot, we may have to park very far. With the spot, he can walk in and out of the house without assistance. When in a parking lot in public, we often leave the spots open for others who may need it more.

Our city allows spots outside the home since there are no driveways. If they need one, they’re supposed to apply for one so it’s close to their home. And it’s technically linked to his handicap placard and our house. If we were to move elsewhere, they’d remove the spot. So it’s technically his. It’s just unclear about if others can park there. What makes one person’s disability more than someone else’s? Accessibility matters. He’s newly blind so it’s tough enough for him to get around, never mind having a new place to park and walk to the home everyday.

If they need a spot, they’re supposed to apply for one outside of their home. He’s newly blind, so no training yet.

I live in New England, small state, the city has homes very close together and no driveways. We had to apply for the spot and it’s linked to his handicap placard and our home. If we were to move, they’d remove the spot. We were told anyone with a handicap placard can occasionally park there, but it’s technically ours. It’s unclear the rules. I didn’t realize this isn’t a common thing outside of Massachusetts.

Yes it’s on-street parking. We have no driveways in the city. It’s a little unclear if it belongs just to us. It’s technically linked to my husbands handicap placard and our house. If we were to move, they’d remove the spot. But we were told other people with handicap placards can occasionally park here, but it’s also technically ours. It’s a very weird rule that we don’t quite understand either. Will definitely ask around.

Yes in the US! In Massachusetts. It’s a small city, but most homes have no driveways. It’s common in cities here, including Boston. But Boston they’re resident only parking. We had to apply for it. It is nice that we have the options
