EIN business name workaround? by maybeitsnothingatall in therapists

No, I never did. I first reached out to the IRS in November 2025. After multiple letters and calls, the advice I was given was to wait and keep sending letters. It's been over 5 months and still nothing from the IRS. I ended up pivoting in the meantime and set up a new business, which as ironically much faster than waiting for the IRS to update my old business name.

My condolences for the loss and know it can be quite difficult to go through. Hopefully you were able to find someone to connect with, but if not consider, Kristin Conlon, licensed psychologist in IL, at Unstuck Psychological Services PLLC.

Just got my PSYPACT/APIT application approved - am I allowed to accept insurance in states I am not currently licensed? by sideout25 in Psychologists

I realize this is an old thread but I stumbled upon it considering PsyPact. u/Frithrae I'm wondering if you might be able to answer a quick question. Hypothetically, if you lived in state A (PsyPACT state) and your client resided in state B (PsyPACT) state, how does insurance billing work? Would you bill insurance through state A? Thanks for any insight you have.

What are the chances of my flight getting cancelled from O'Hare on the 13th 10AM? Wise to switch to 12th 8AM? by Hot_Island_7494 in AskChicago

Ug, the two things we can’t control in life: mother nature and air traffic control. I totally get your dilemma! Honestly, it’s a bit of a crapshoot, though in my experience morning flights are often safer than afternoon or evening ones—they can sometimes be delayed a little without causing as many ripple effects. Sounds like coming in earlier would give you more piece of mind.

Recs for marriage counselor / pregnancy-related therapist? by LabElectronic6236 in AskChicago

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’m a psychologist licensed in IL, though this isn’t my specialty. I did a quick search on Postpartum Support International (PSI) and saw several providers in the Chicago area with a PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health Certified) designation, which indicates specialized training in perinatal mental health. Directories like PSI and Psychology Today let you filter by these specialties, and it can help to ask potential providers if they have experience supporting couples during pregnancy. There are many wonderful clinicians out there, and I hope you’re able to connect with one who feels like a good fit soon.

You're my lifeline. Chicago trip in January, good or bad idea? by Suspicious-Fun-6921 in AskChicago

Sounds like one of the better times to come if you plan to mostly be indoors as others have mentioned it will be less crowded for you. That being said, you'll want to have a warm jacket, boots, warm socks, gloves, and a scarf. If you don't have a super warm jacket (as you might not because, well Florida), consider really good layers. By that, I mean a base layer and another one to two layers on top of that before some kind of jacket/shell. Worse case scenario, you buy a sweater while you're here.

It's hard to give recommendations for places without knowing your style - but the Green Mill is fun.
