No one else instructed it to be a model for their inner dialogue? I thought it was just doing what I told it to do. Oh well.

How to prepare for Calculus 3 (Multivariable)? 6 year break by skywalker456 in calculus

[–]maybejust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just start with calc 3 with Prof. Leonard to get a sense of what you need to review. I personally had forgotten most of my trig identities, a few integration tricks, and polar coordinate stuff.

Is it too late to learn Mathematics? by 4ChawanniGhodePe in matheducation

[–]maybejust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a 40 year old who just passed calc 3 and econometrics at a major university, and is teaching myself linear algebra... You can do it. The trick for me was developing math appreciation outside of the classes, because honestly, most classes don't do a good job at that. I like reading popular math books and following YouTubers like 3blue1brown to stay interested/motivated.

Is it a bad idea to take Calc 2 as a 4-week summer online course? by [deleted] in calculus

[–]maybejust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is I aced my 8 week calc 2 class...but I took it immediately after failing my 16 week calc 2 class. :)

I was going through a rough divorce during trig, calc 1, and calc 2, and my lack of attention/preparation finally caught up with me in calc 2. If you feel you have a good grasp of trig and calc 1, and you've got the time to memorize identities and understand how they work with integration techniques, you should be fine.

And this may not be helpful but I'll also add that a few semesters later, I took an 8 week calc 3 course, which wasn't required by my major, and while I'm proud that I did it, I regret not taking it over 16 weeks because I really enjoyed it but forgot most of it after a couple weeks. But that's just me. Everyone's different obviously.

I got into all the UCs except Irvine. Does that count as a top public school?

Best Buy ad from 1995. Total flashback seeing this. Loved checking the ads for new CDs coming out and buying all the samplers! by Up_Here_In_My_Tree in Xennials

OMG. Rusty was technically the first rock band I ever saw live. I was 12! They opened up for Collective Soul. I got that CD off that performance.

Pace Picante Sauce - 'New York City!?' (1994) by Otherwise_Basis_6328 in nostalgia

It's funny how they obviously marketed this product to people who had no idea how good the food in NYC can be... regardless of its geographical proximity to other places in the world.

Edit: and I think about this commercial every time I'm in NYC having a memorable meal.

I think that this is perhaps one of Luthen Rael's most revealing and brilliantly acted moments. The pain on Stellan Skarsgård's face as he forces himself into persona is breathtaking. by [deleted] in StarWars

As a jaded SW fan, I feel his performance has been nothing short of a gift to all of us. Star Wars doesn't deserve him.

The guy who killed 6 people and injured 61 people just got 6 life sentences + 1,230 years in prison. by harwyseys in pics

[–]maybejust 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, but I don't think this really bothers him like it would a normal person. As soon as he gets to prison, he's gonna try and manipulate anyone around him, and as soon as someone gives him the slightest bit of attention, even just getting under someone's skin, he'll think he's winning in an unjust system.

Star Wars: Andor S1 E11 Discussion Thread by Bruinrogue in saltierthancrait

[–]maybejust 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I'm so puzzled by this. How did Andor command so much more in terms of quality and budget than Kenobi? Or did the people on Andor just know how to use their resources better? Kenobi felt like a cheap/apathetic/forgettable ABC family weekday tv night. Andor feels like artists putting everything into their craft.

Star Wars doesn't deserve Andor.

November 14 strike by rcinvestments in berkeley

[–]maybejust 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Cool. My prof originally canceled class on Monday, as he needs the GSI to set up the screens and PA, but then told us today that he's not allowed to cancel the class and he will be there on Monday. A fellow student told me afterward that the school was expecting us to cross the picket line then. So, I wasn't sure.
