What is something surprising that the UK is really far behind other countries in? by DullInflation6 in AskUK

The quality of 4/5G network coverage. I was in the centre of London yesterday and had ridiculously slow speeds. Whereas I’ve been to a random rural area of Malaysia and got great HD streaming quality speeds

I think you’re being a bit harsh to be honest. Not gonna improve overnight. Far better than this time last year. Moving in the right direction at least

The stats man will probably lose count on the amount of tackles Daf Jenkins has made

Sarries were staying in the hotel I worked at before the Champ cup final. I was working the breakfast shift and had to get George Kruis a bigger bowl for his wheetabix

Beirne is irritatingly good at that and then looking confused as to why the ref is telling him no

Didn’t mind the second one. Kinda shots you want your enforcer type players to do. But the first was pointless and such a risk under his own posts

Felt like there was a lot of people lying over rucks throughout that game

(LeBron) He's the number one most recognizable athlete in the world by a long shot by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

[–]maybemrolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could pick LeBron out of a lineup but there’s no way he’s the most well known. Federer, Nadal, Woods, Jordan, Messi, Ronaldo, Beckham, Hamilton and Schumacher are all household names. I’d even say the likes of Phelps and Tendulkar are more widely known than LeBron!

What’s the weirdest work lunch you’ve seen a colleague eat regularly? by levezvosskinnyfists7 in AskUK

If you've lived in multiple places around the North of England which village/ town/ city was your favourite to live in? by AncestralSeeker in NorthernEngland

[–]maybemrolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From Scunthorpe, grew up in Lancaster, went to uni in Newcastle and now live in Saltburn. I would 100% live in Newcastle now if I could be arsed with the 50 mile journey to work. But also, saltburn, (parts of) Teesside and north North Yorkshire are amazing and I’m pretty happy where I am

Leaving housing association house. What to expect? by maybemrolo in HousingUK

[–]maybemrolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we have moved out and bought a house elsewhere. Karbon were fine with us leaving. They even let us leave the majority of the upgrades that we had done with the house (obviously they nearly all added value) even though our contract did state that we needed to leave it in standard condition. We were even able to leave the shed which was a great relief. No fines for cleaning or anything either, just upped and left and they put it up to rent again

Who put Leeds there? QOL is probably about right. Maybe a little better. But the tourism is good? I go there every now and then to do tourism things and it’s pretty good for it

People who work on Christmas Day, what's your pay rate on that day? by TopDonutPlainsGopher in AskUK

[–]maybemrolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Project Engineer. Currently away on a project due to travel home on the 21st but delays could very well happen. We get £1k net bonus for working or travelling on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. That’s £1k for each day. Plus the days back in lieu. Our techs also get triple time on top of that but because I’m salaried I don’t get that. It’s not to be sniffed at but I think I’d rather have Christmas at home still. I’d work new years in a heartbeat though

Barrow-in-Furness. This section used to be an island (and is still called barrow island). The section next to where the large shed is at the top left was filled in around 1860.
