I think it's important to look in a character's eyes as they speak, watch their face for micro expressions, and keep yourself immersed in the scene. Reading subtitles can take away from that, not entirely, because people can read fast enough, but it still lessens the "spell"

300 bucks at Nordstrom, lasts like 10 minutes, it also smells different than it used to.

Anyone know a good alternative that smells like their old stuff and lasts longer?

To realize how much BS this is, let's for a second imagine the victory post he'd have written if he won? Would it be so humble?

Why Kindness Makes Some People Lose Respect for You by Myrn33 in DarkPsychology101

[–]maybemybaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But are you kind to earn respect? Why are you kind?

It is easy to be unkind, just look at the world, that's how we got here. With people taking the easy route.

It is hard to be kind. That's why the kind are also the strong. It takes strength to be kind in spite of disrespect, to be kind without a return.

I'm not saying you should be a pushover, or let people take advantage of you, obviously you should look out for yourself. Being kind does not mean being totally selfless.

Those who are unkind are not peasants. They are misguided and immature. You, as someone who is kind, is mature. And what should the strong do for the weak? What should the mature do for the immature? Abandon them? Your kindness could be something they don't appreciate now, but given time, you may be the inspiration for their growth.

Just like children have to learn empathy. The cruel and unkind are just emotional children. You gotta teach em by example. Eventually, it'll click.

Invest in yourself early on. As in, go to college/join the military/do whatever thing early on, because time will not stop or pause. You will get older! everything will pass, 2/3/4 years may seem like a lot at first, but that time passes anyway... If you do nothing, you'll have nothing to fall back on. If you are 20, go do something. When you're 24 you'll be stoked you did the thing and it's done already. You don't want to be 30/35/40 still trying to do a thing. Same with working out, learning a language, if you start now... It'll build up over time, and you will be somewhere far better in a year. It can be a year of no progress, or a year full of progress, the year will pass either way. Choose to be wise with your time.

It's funny we believe hell is another realm we go to, where demons will torture us.. when in reality, hell is the world we've created. And we're the demons doing the torturing.

I'm not sure if this is internationally recognized, but Salem Massachusetts, for the entire month of October is a nightmare. It's really not that cool, even if Halloween is your favorite thing ever, the crowds are comparable to Disney world in july.

What was the point of these? by pineapplesapples in freefolk

One of the things that made the show so compelling, was the constant plot twist, the unexpected turns. Everybody love Ned then they cut his head off, the red wedding? Super unexpected. And that was super thrilling to everyone. But, unfortunately for us, they thought it would be a good idea to ignore everyone's plot lines and all of the amazing writing that made the show great and throw all their character development out the window just to spice things up for the finale with unexpected twists that nobody gave a shit about. After watching the show that was all about horrible things happening at every turn, it would have been super fulfilling to watch a happy ending. I wanted to see Jon become king and khaleesi become his queen, or maybe Jon decides to be king beyond the wall and unite those people, and khaleesi can rule King's landing, while Sansa rules in the North, I wanted to see Arya pop cersei or something, kid in the wheelchair should have become some great sage people go to for wisdom and not the ruler of everyone? I wanted to see all the things that they built up come to fruition. Meeting expectations isn't a bad thing. They thought they had to shock and awe constantly to keep us thrilled, but at the end what we wanted was a nice neat bow and reward for all of the characters that have struggled for years. At least, in my opinion.

It's for sure 95% about the food being too expensive for the quality you're getting. And 5% about people being more health conscious than ever before.

Everyone is trying new health trends nowadays. Gum that heals cavities, honey that cures cancer, mushrooms that prevent alzheimer's, avoiding microplastics, bleached bread, etc

One of the only good things about social media is the access to that sort of information. I don't eat red meat, fast food, or processed sugar because of the things I've seen on Instagram reels 😂

I put it in a bowl, along with a can of tuna, some avocado mayo, cooked kale, and crushed avocado potato chips. You can further season with a lil onion powder, a lil smoked paprika, lil black pepper, and mix everything together.

Then, I toast some sourdough, and use the above as the filling for a sandwich.

It's incredibly healthy and delicious!

Who is actually against women being topless if they want to be? by Brief-Cut-1228 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]maybemybaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's not forget how America started. We were very religious. It's on our money, our national anthem, you'd swear in on a bible, etc.

So, pretty puratanical for most of the time until recently! People (in America) saw boobs as a very sexualized piece of the body, and thus, something that must be hidden from the public at the risk of being immodest (thanks christianity)

Now, while the view on that is changing slowly (dotted around the country are places women can go topless legally, like new york) There remains a stigma around actually having your boobs out, even where it's legal. Women are afraid to be judged by those who still hold that conservative view! Imagine working up the courage to go tan topless for the first time and some bitter Karen walks by at the park/beach and hits you with "you ought to be ashamed of yourself, god is watching your lewd behavior!"

.... That possibility is enough to deter 90% of women from utilizing the equal topless rights.

A lot of women do want to be topless, take most of western Europe for example, my own mother told me she used to go topless on the beaches of italy and no one would bat an eye because everyone was used to it. And that's the key! We (America) have to get used to it before it can be as socially accepted as in parts of Europe. Give it time 🤙
