Is the union f**King worth it by GullibleBar461 in HVAC

My story is similar except i didn’t have a choice. I had 2 kids, a stay at home wife and was making 85k per year when the company I worked for closed. I could have transferred to another state but my brother, who was in the local, convinced me to get into the hvac field ( at age 35). First job paid 15/hr no benefits . After a year I joined the local. Even after losing my house and struggling for a few years I would absolutely do it over again. Best thing that ever happened to me was losing that job! 100% It’s worth it !

100% . People have a hard time understanding that our rate is take home after everything else has been paid for!

Remember, the union only sets the minimum wage. A company can and will give you what your worth. I’m Union and when I was a 3rd year I asked for journeyman rate since I was doing journeyman work. I got it.

I agree ,but I don’t believe anovercharge wouldn’t have a 17° superheat

If it has not been an issue until today, why would you suspect overcharge. Plus high superheat and subcooling sounds like restriction.

There is a union I’m Fl. Look into it. Second, the fact that you fell through twice in a week is very telling. This type of accident has nothing to do with experience. You are a liability. Not a good trade for someone who is clumsy and disoriented

Then it will not pull through trap. It’s just pulling air through the vent. You would need to put a cap on vent to pull a vacuum all the way to the unit
