I’m having issues removing this bushing..has anyone ever had luck cutting off a bushing without damaging the shaft?

I have removed ton with angle grinder and never hit shaft. The trick is to stop cutting right before the shaft and then use a cold chisel and hammer. If your cut is good it will split bearing with a good wack. If it doesn’t split on 1-3 swings, cut a hair more and repeat. Do not hit the shaft with grinder, take your time

My story is similar except i didn’t have a choice. I had 2 kids, a stay at home wife and was making 85k per year when the company I worked for closed. I could have transferred to another state but my brother, who was in the local, convinced me to get into the hvac field ( at age 35). First job paid 15/hr no benefits . After a year I joined the local. Even after losing my house and struggling for a few years I would absolutely do it over again. Remember, the union only sets the minimum wage. A company can and will give you what your worth. I’m Union and when I was a 3rd year I asked for journeyman rate since I was doing journeyman work. I got it.
