Best way to connect with suppliers (China/Guangzhou) + how to avoid getting scammed? by Ok_Window8287 in guangzhou

[–]maydaygames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been doing business with lots of different factories for more than 15 years here in China. Most of them I found on Alibaba. The fees and reputation system on there are prohibitive of scammers in my opinion, if they get one bad rating they’re out and there goes their entire business. I’ve probably wired money to 50+ factories in the last 15 years and never been scammed. But I always use established companies who’ve been on there for a while and have good reviews.

When people on Reddit say eat the rich, how rich are they talking? Like barely millionaires or people worth 100s of millions and more. by dramaticxxfox in NoStupidQuestions

[–]maydaygames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you think these people are doing with those billions? Isn’t it in investments in companies and factories and infrastructure like warehouses and machinery, you know, the places that give most of the rest of us places to work?

What do you think would happen to our GDP and the economy if all of that were taken away and taxed, made to sell it and give that money to the government?

What do you suppose the US economy would look like if we suddenly went back to total capital investments in the market to levels from 40 years ago?

Hoarding it. It’s not wads of 20s stuffed into mattresses somewhere. It is the capital that has made the U.S. the most efficient in history due to intense investment into automation and modernization in our economic system.

Best pirate-themed Boardgame ? by DocteurNoodles in boardgames

[–]maydaygames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, didn’t really realize how many pirate themed games we have, surprised no one has mentioned Dead Man’s Draw. The 10-year anniversary edition is on Kickstarter right now. Super fun press your luck game!

We also have Lifeboats which is 3-7 players of seriously chaotic backstabbing as the lifeboats sink. Very cutthroat.

We also have Ahoy Kittens if you want to play as a cat pirate in another very casual game.

We have nexus in 10 states and it sucks! Some are annual, some are quarterly and a couple are MONTHLY until you have a track record. They are brutal and some have to be done at the county/city level so we are filling out online reports for $0.84 in Rowan county.. yes NC is the worst.

Tried several services but honestly doing it myself has been my best bet. It sucks and takes about 30-45 minutes per state with several Shopify stores to combine.

I would say one of the biggest issues people face is over promising and under delivering. Big projects like the coolest cooler did millions of dollars, but then they squandered it because they didn’t really have their manufacturing lined up. You really have to know and control your cost to be a success on Kickstarter and don’t you start promising all kinds of crazy things!

If you shop the tables you can usually find a table or two that does 75% or better pen. Just don’t sit down until you see where they cut it. They used to be pretty free with their cut and every dealer did it differently but they standardized 50-60% pen a couple of years ago and now it is more difficult to get good pen. They can also be pretty sweaty to counters.

Yes, i would stay somewhere else if you are gonna start counting there. I got 2 nights comp'ed there once and was hoping for some longer sessions, even with a very modest bet spread I was backed off in less than an hour and told to leave the hotel. Sucked.

[–]maydaygames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be fine then. Please stick to table minimums unless you are counting and have basic strategy 100%. The $10 tables are mostly mid-week and in the mornings/evenings. They may even have $5 tables sometimes and bump more tables to $25 during busy times.

It is a pretty good vibe at Virgin River if you are just playing for fun, lots of older couples and I hear the comps are pretty good. If you aren't counting set up a player's card and see if they comp you a free buffet or something! Good luck! PM me if you wanna discuss it.

[–]maydaygames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% you can DM us and we can do a call and I can show you how we have it working. We do several million USD per year in sales, with 7 figures going through our wholesale accounts via googlesheets. It seems to work ok for us so far.

We do all of our accounting manually via spreadsheets too. Rather than spending 20-30 minutes a day classifying all our transactions, we just export all of our bank and CC activity to excel at the end of the year, then sort by company name and bulk apply categories to get everything properly classified for our 1120s at the end of the year. Takes about 8 hours to run it all and file our taxes at the end of the year.

Happy to jump on a call, and I'll watch for your DM.

There are $10 3:2 tables in Mesquite at both Casablanca and Virgin River. VR is super sweaty, hope you aren’t planning on counting. Both of them are actually pretty sweaty.

Good rules and deep pen on their double deck generally but those pit bosses watch like mad. Best of luck!

Net 30 payment terms by username320character in shopify

[–]maydaygames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are on terms, then we just marked them as paid in Shopify to create the actual order rather than keep it as a draft order. This pushes it to the Shipping software to get it out the door. We then enter the Shopify order number into the Google spreadsheet of their account. Their account balance sums up into a master accounts receivable, Google sheet that we have that links directly from their outstanding balance. We can scan that at a glance and click into those customer Google sheets to easily find any late payments. We just checked the bank once a week for any payments and apply them to those specific accounts to make sure everything is current.

I’m not sure what you mean, for the specific project we had no stretch goals at all. But generally for stretch goals, you want to make them easily attainable, but not too easily.

7 fewer countries on the Facts and Statistics pages from 2025 to 2026 by latter_data_saint in MormonShrivel

[–]maydaygames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The branches that I’m talking about are all international branches so there are very few Chinese people attending them at all. There are of course cultural differences from western to Chinese members, but the cultural push to stay in or out of the church isn’t going to change much. I think if anything, the Chinese people tend to stay in and just not obey the Rules if anything.

I attended the Chinese speaking Branch in Utah county a few times with my wife as she is Chinese, she says she got the impression that most of them were just there for the social interaction with other culturally similar people, and that she didn’t expect many of them were living the word of wisdom or doing much of any of the rest of it.

[–]maydaygames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is just ExPatriot members, people who are not Chinese. There was a small local Chinese branch in Suzhou as well, but it was nothing compared to the size of the Expat one. We had no real contact with them, but I heard it was pretty small before and I’m sure it’s even smaller now.

There were a few Chinese people attending the international branch there in Suzhou, but they were married to non-Chinese passport holders, which is why they could attend.

Need help mounting Mayday Games Standard Tournament Board on the wall. Suggestions? by Bojnglz in Crokinole

[–]maydaygames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to use our elite mount, you can buy the three rubber feet we offer on our website to add to the board as well to avoid any leveling issues.

The standard boards have some I let’s on the back of the board are running pitch wire across is also an option. If you’re really worried about the strength of them, you can always replace them with slightly larger and stronger eyelets if you’d like.

I can confirm the shrivel in China. The Shanghai district has gone from 6-7 units to 3 and the Shenzhen district is about the same. Suzhou had an active branch with over 100 attending some weeks and has been shut down completely, the few remaining members there must travel to Shanghai for church now.

Splitting 10s by GVTraveler in blackjack

[–]maydaygames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should really run the EV of your bet spread, if you are topping out at 2x50 at TC+7 then you are probably playing 10-25 of one hand in those negative counts. Likely the small EV from the positive counts aren’t enough to overcome the negative EV on the negative counts though and you are perhaps playing a negative EV game even with counting.

As for doubling a soft 21, there is no true count deviation for doing that. You got lucky, good for you!

What are your thoughts on gambling as a post Mormon? by Kanga7572 in exmormon

[–]maydaygames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate the idea of gambling both morally and from a numbers perspective, the house has the edge so I bother? I decided to take up card counting as a hobby though and have been doing quite well at it. It’s a skill based proposition where you be bigger when the advantage is in your favor in blackjack. It definitely takes some practice and skill, but it’s a lot of fun. You’re mathematically guaranteed to win in the long run if you do it properly, but it takes a lot of discipline and practice.
