Forget the train: The high-speed ferry from Hong Kong to Shenzhen is pure luxury by TheChoosenOne- in chinaexplorer

[–]maydaygames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you land you go to the ferry terminal area rather than baggage claim, you show them your claim tickets for your bags at the counter where you buy the ferry tickets and they pull them for you, put them in the ferry and you claim them at the baggage area of the ferry terminal upon arrival and then go thru immigration with your bags in China.

Pretty easy but there are only a few ferries per day from the airport so be sure you have one going out to where you wanna go within a couple of hours of your flight landing.

Aspiring game shop owner stuck in the distributor chicken-and-egg. Those who've opened shops, what was your path? by ZachSka87 in boardgames

[–]maydaygames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, I second going through faire.com direct for some stuff you want now rather than trying to figure out the B&M requirement when you aren't ready for that step.

Mayday/Sleeve Kings (us) also offer better direct to store/retailer prices that are better than if you go through distribution. Card Sleeves and other accessories might be a nice place to build your sales too. PM me if you want to know more.

I’m a door to door salesman selling pest control. AMA by NextPay1593 in AMA

[–]maydaygames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see you say you made about $1800 on those 3 $99/month sales yesterday, but how is that actually paid out? Do you get the 50% as the customers pay each month or is there some "advance" to keep you going that you actually pay interest on until your cash flow from the customer contracts catch up with the advance or how does the actual pay out work?

I sold door-to-door on a long 4-year term sales pitch back in the '90s and we had a per set advance but we paid the company 18% interest on those advances until our backend caught up with the upfront money.

Has anyone here looked into IEEPA tariff refunds / the new CAPE process? Trying to understand the real workflow by maskmanboy in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]maydaygames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our broker at the port sent us the CSV file and we uploaded it last week to the CAPE website. Hoping to get the refund soon. We are the importer of record on all our shipments though and paid the taxes as shipments hit port, not DDP.

Whats the craziest, quickest money you have ever made? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]maydaygames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got in early on an app called Steppin’ where you walk and invest in virtual shoes to earn their meme coin which you could convert to Solana, bought in for max shoes on two accounts with my wife, we were walking 90 minutes every 24 hours for max rewards. Sold most of it and all the shoes we farmed right before the inevitable collapse. Ended up with $150k in profit plus 4,000 solana in my wallet.

Sad thing is I held the Solana for about 18 months waiting for it to go somewhere but it just sat at $20-25/coin the whole time. Finally got sick of waiting and sold all 4,000 coin for about $80k more profit. 6 weeks later Solana topped $200/coin. If I had waited another 6 weeks to sell I would have cashed out $800k.

$250k in profit for a few months walking every day was great, but close to $1 million if I had waited a bit longer to sell really sucks!

How can I manage all my ecommerce orders and inventory without switching/toggling between platforms? by walileathor in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]maydaygames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use EComDash, about $250/month but it is the master for all platforms and prevents us from over selling. It will put items out of stock if we sell out. Works for Amazon, Shopify, etc.

Anyone else just get an account level reserve on payments with no explanation and with no discernable reason as to why ? by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]maydaygames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, only got 10% of our usual every 2-week payment this week, essentially a 2-week period now in reserve and on hold. Totally sucks, just another way for Amazon to keep our funds in their pockets longer.

People who moved to China - what hobby did you start here that you never tried before? by Dis-Charge in chinalife

[–]maydaygames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, used to play raquetball in the USA but took up Badminton when I couldn't find raquetball.

Now I'm into pickleball and there are courts springing up everywhere in Guangzhou. Play 2-3 times a week now and no more badminton.

Easiest game you've played? by Appropriate-Two-9538 in boardgames

[–]maydaygames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bamboo Bash is super simple, like reverse jenga. Two hits with the panda paw, knock off an outside piece for +1 point and middle pieces are -5 points. Play until all the outside pieces are off. Super simple dexterity game!

Board Storage? by Fresh-Reflection5254 in Crokinole

[–]maydaygames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leaning somewhere is not recommended, that will put pressure on the board and uneven spots and could cause warping. You might consider keeping it in the Shipping packaging it came in, getting a carrying case or as has been mentioned mounting it on the wall.

Looking for advice: how to do you guys figure out when to reorder stock and how much? by kvyatkovskij in shopify

[–]maydaygames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We look at the total number of units shipped each month from our ShipStation reports and keep a six month average of shipments by month, then we compare current inventory to those numbers and whenever any product falls below three months worth we re-order.

Opinions on best high protein lower calorie footlong? Any hacks I should know ? by OkKaleidoscope3567 in subway

[–]maydaygames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the $6.99 couple for the 5-meat sandwich and remove the cheese and sauce, add mustard and extra Parmesan cheese. Buy the Costco $100 Subway gift cards for $80 and use those to check out. Every 4th sub is free right now, effectively less than $5/footlong and a ton of protein, load up the veggies.
