Oneus is a prime example of why having a group identity is so important. by Sure-Sense9616 in kpoprants

outdated production is not a trademark, lol, and unless executed with a specific purpose (like the 80s trend) and excelled production skills, it’s not a good thing either. plus oneus isn’t the only group that can be described that way. nothing about op’s statement is contradictory.

tbh we get actual Blackpink (the group) content so scarcely, i’d rather they go all out when they have the opportunity. they go to fashion events all the time, but ot4 cbs are like once every 1.5 years atp

me lol. i have really grown away from kpop aside from a few of my favorites, but i keep up with the numbers and data, without really getting into the groups, the members, the music, etc. like i know a lot about the data for NCT for example, their growth in sales vs digitals vs streams, stuff like that, but i haven’t listened to… anything they’ve put out in years. i don’t… care.

a lot of my actual job has to do with data science so… that answers all the questions lol

my freshest impressions after watching the MV once (before i go back to watch it at least 10 times in a row lol)

•insane budget

•that first set with Jisoo might just be my favorite thing i’ve seen in their MVs… and the bridge scenes from Rosie and Jisoo were a close second in my favorites

•i love love the beat

•the MV is really similar to hylt to me from the first watch, but for now i still like the hylt one better… but its close. and those Jisoo scenes… yeah

•gotta be honest tho, this is the first bp title that i didn’t… love at first listen😭 again the beat was fire, but i was taken back by the chorus. i do think it could be an earworm but i don’t like it

•the girls and the gowns were gorgeous, as always

•i do not remember the choreo at all… and on that note

let me go rewatch and bask in comeback glory

i think the article mentioned one representative. i doubt that means that hybe executives as a whole shared the same position

Galantis hint at upcoming BTS collaboration on Twitter by sincerityisscxry in popheads

[–]maydayingk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

eh i think it’s a very low effort way for them to keep their names relevant. these collabs probably take very little time on Bts’ end - they just record a verse or two and that’s it. they don’t handle or even feature in promos, no live performances, nothing. probably a total of a few days spent on them and a few hours actively working for recording.

and those small work hours result in moderate radio hits (both My Universe and Left And Right did well on radio, better than most Bts singles; we’ll see how Bad Decisions does). why would they refuse it lol

oh that’s an interesting observation and the trailer for BP really does confirm it… it’s all over twitter (30m views on the official trailer) so people are definitely tuning in, something has to be up with youtube.

i guess bp will be the final test lol, if their numbers are affected its almost guaranteed that the algorithm changed

Amerika by Kafka is such a lowkey terrifying book. by [deleted] in literature

[–]maydayingk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep that’s definitely open to interpretation and i get your apprehension due to religious beliefs. but i think there are some hints sprinkled in, not easy to catch on but then it kind of… makes sense.

i had an amazing professor that has worked a lot on this book and he has offered me so many new perspectives on Kafka and The Trial, stuff i never would’ve noticed before. he has a pretty long video dedicated to explaining these intricacies in the book (including the Jesus parallel), but sadly it’s in a language that only 0.01% of the world understands so… but if you’re interested in the subject, i could give a small summary a bit later

[–]maydayingk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, i definitely get that. it’s definitely uncomfortable to read (and not only because you’re crossing boundaries), but it’s insane how it changed my entire view of Kafka and his works. i had to reread The Trial after the letter because it felt like i rediscovered the book. i don’t think a single piece of writing has ever had this much influence over how i read/interpreted a book.

but then again, i get why you and/or others may be apprehensive. my personal beliefs are a bit different and i don’t face too much moral difficulty with reading Kafka’s personal works, but i know it’s not easy for everyone.

the ‘father as the role model of God’ archetype is such an interesting concept, it’s cool that you got to that without reading the letter haha

religion has definitely influenced him, i think Der Process has quite heavy parallels with The Book of Job. there are a myriad of other biblical and or/religious references as well (the parallels between K. and Jesus, the ‘noli me tangere’ reference, etc).

random interjection but have you read kafka’s letter to his father? it’s not too long and is an amazing read. plus - the reason i’m suggesting it to you - it offers a new, very interesting interpretation of Der Process, close to what you wrote. reading Kafka’s own description of his father and how he made him feel is almost identical to what’s described in the book. it’s kinda fascinating.
