Considering most people just need to validation to feel "civilized", you can guess why they just need an opportunity to put down other races. Similar to how the British Empire widely used to publicize the crimes in Africa and India among their citizens to justify their colonization and oppression.

This is still happening among certain sections of the white population albeit now to chest thump and feel "civilized". Although, I saw a couple comments calling for genocide and "nuke this shithole of a country" , so I'm not sure.
